Are yer mad at United ?

I'm not angry at the Blades. I think the only thing that went wrong with McC's plans for the club were the global economic collapse, and the extent to which we were exposed through our property dealings, & the collapse in the value of our assets & inability to borrow against them. I think we are fooked now for a good few years. But very few people saw it coming did they? In that sense, we are victims of circumstance that are largely outside of our control, and this is why things are as they now are.

What I am really angry about is the way that the game has become about money, first & foremost. I am furious that the Premier League ever existed in the first place and I think it has destroyed most of the values that used to exist in football. It doesn't seem so long since clubs like Ipswich, QPR & Burnley used to finish 2nd in the old 1st Division, and do so without chucking money around. Now, the playing field is a very long way from being level, and it looks like it might never be again.

I said at the time the PL came into being that for clubs like us, Pigs & Owls to vote for it was akin to chickens voting for Colonel Sanders. And so it has proved.

For me, I really hope the professional game completely financially implodes, and then we can all start again with what's left.

Bravo Guesty. I'll tell you what the club should have done:

a)not sold him in the first place. Fair enough nahughton went (for a very good price) but to sell his very talented young replacement was just plain stupidity.
b) we were told that one of the conditions for the sale was that he would come back on a season long loan. If we agreed to that then we should stick to that. If this was agreed then we would not be powerless.
c) If we were informed that Walker was going (or even knew that he could be recalled) by Spurs then we should have asked Spurs for compensation on the form of Naughton.

If you think that the club has handled this situation well and that the were 'powerless' then you really are erm ....... very naive (to be diplomatic).

We were powerless once Redknapp called up last night and said they wanted him back, that's my point. What we should have done before that is not sell him like you say, or at least have studied the circumstances upon which we brought him back. But with all that done, there is nothing the club could have done last night to keep him.

I think the reality was probably that we were so desperate to get the money in the bank we took the best CASH deal for the pair we could.

It seemed at the time as though Kyle N preferred Everton and Kyle W didn't want to go at all but when Tottenham came in and offered up to £10M for the pair, this was always going to be the deal we went for, especially when they sweetened it with a loan return deal.

£10 MILL split 5 mill for each player is an amazing deal for two unproven players if you ask me in the current climate. There wasnt many plus 5 mill deals in this transfer window either

As a matter of fact you are actually letting United off the hook. McCabe has presided over the second worse decade football -wise in our history. We are now tens of millions in debt and very little linked to football. We have a team full of loanees and unplayable fringe players. The loanees give us very little leverage if the parent clubs want them back and the manager cannot win important matches either here or previously at Leeds. McCabe cannot pick a manager to save his life and the club have very little expertise at identifying how to get the football team moving forward or to keep them moving if they could.
It was ever thus.
It's very dispiriting. :mad::mad::mad:

There's so much going on, stuff that has made me raise an eyebrow. But Utd have done it to themselves, they had the chance of Naughton back, and let it go. So Walker was always going to be recalled.

I can't say anymore as I keep getting bollocked for commenting.

Nope I was thinking more of the word tease. :)

You obviously know something interesting but you can't say anything.

When did we set up the loan deal for walker can anyone remember? Any chance it was exactly 6 months ago? If so maybe we didn't agree a full season after all.

It was a season long but Tottenham insisted on an additional clause which meant they could call him back at short notice in the transfer window.

And SUFc conveniently forgot to tell their fans about this clause.
