The RND comments match everything I’ve seen of him in Rochdale’s highlights and reports I’ve heard on his performances. I suggested last year that a regular league stint might help his chances in the Wales set-up, and I think he’s got every chance of a senior call-up by the end of the season. Neil Taylor was poor last night, the bad note in an otherwise decent looking Wales defences, and Paul Dummett has recently retired from international football. Taylor frankly has been poor for Wales for a while, and only lack of games meant Ben Davies didn’t start. It’s all set up for RND if he can continue his development.

Cheers Roy. RND is clearly destined for bigger things in the not too distant future😀. I know a couple of stoke fans and they’re not happy with Duffy’s contribution so far🙄
Does make me wonder what the hell is he doing there but not sure he’d have got much of a chance had he stayed at the Lane?. UTMB ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️

By all accounts Joe Allen is being ruined there, so I’m not the least bit surprised that Duffy’s struggling in what sounds like a bit of a poisonous environment – like the Adkins season with us, too many bad eggs in the camp, a miserable atmosphere, and a manager that despite good intentions isn’t capable of tackling the deep-rooted issues at the club.

If Enda ever does leave us then it could be RND taking his place in the team.

RND - should be in our 25 instead of Clarke probably. Is he u21 actually?

Graham - probably not going to the premier league quality if he’s not cutting it in the conference at this stage

Thomas - isn’t it funny that he was signed 2 (?) years ago as the ‘alternative option’, and now we are spending 10 million on Mousset as the same option. That’s one of those funny quirks that shows how far we’ve come in a short space of time.

The rest of them, keep loaning them out until their contracts expire, on the off chance one of them explodes at their level and we can get a decent fee/sell on for them.

Other than that, cheers Roy!

Who were our 'bad eggs' that year?

Who were our 'bad eggs' that year?

Obviously I don’t know the full story, but have heard/read snippets and suspect a few that we moved on are included in that. Sharp was fairly clear publicly that there were a number of the squad not pulling in the same direction (without obviously naming names).

20, so we would be ok to play him.

It'd be great if he can make it and come in as proper deputy to Enda. I know Osborn can play there, but it feels that he is more makeshift in that position, than natural.

Jimmy quit, Jody got married
Shoulda known we'd never get far
And they said we should give up
They said we didn't have a hope
And we still told them "wait and see"
We worked harder, got better in every way
Got some other friends involved
Pretty soon we found we knew how to play
We'd got all our problems solved

Rochdale fan i know raves about RND. He can't believe he isn't playing at a higher level and thinks we'll recall him in Jan.

Cheers Panchero!

Not a chance. We have just spent over £40m and have almost an embarrassment of riches in midfield. Also Wilder has only blooded Brooks in three years at lower levels, no others I can think of.

Is RND that good?

Of course some healthy completion is good - 🤣

RND has always been a class act. Glad he is getting experience whether its with us or not this kid is gonna play in the prem one day.

We had plenty. Che Adams clearly knew a big move was coming his way, you had that arrogant little shitbag and Adidas Athlete Diego De Girolamo having swipes at the manager on social media, Higdon was on a big contract but didn't lift a leg, Harrison McGahey was supposed to have a huge attitude as well, and let us not forget that our star midfielder Jose Baxter ended up getting done for drugs. There has also got to be an excellent and valid reason why John Brayford got shifted out of the club within a week of making his first start under Wilder.

This thread has dredged up some bad memories for me as i absolutely despised that United side under Adkins, thank goodness Chris Wilder came in and sorted it all out.

Was at Bristol Rovers yesterday, Smith got a 20 minute cameo and looked pretty isolated despite Rovers having an extra man

Maybe a discussion for another day on a more relevant thread.

Woops, that was from earlier, aborted or so I thought!

Add Coutts and Freeman, the Cloughie lads. Both proved just how much better they could be under Wilder. Disgraceful for Atkins. Different people and players one year on.

End seems to get good write ups wherever he goes.

Good to hear

From what I have seen of RND i'd have him in the squad now. Not sure what it is about CW but he does not seem to like promoting the home grown youngsters into the squad. I know we are at a different level now but it was the same in the lower leagues. Also think that if we are loaning out RND he ought to have gone to a championship club to give him a better test.

I thought RND would be in the squad the last preseason to be honest. He's class.

Would love to have him around training with Enda and learning his ways, but he wouldn't have many playing opportunities so you've got to say he's better off at Rochdale playing at a good level.

I just hope we don't sell him.

Why should RND be in our squad? Isn't he better off getting experience playing for Rochdale on loan? He'd struggle to get first team games with us, with Enda and Osborne in front of him.

Genuine question here, not sniping - which of our younger players do you think should have been in the first-team squad in the lower leagues? With hindsight we could maybe say Ben Whiteman could have been in the mix in 2016/17 but even with 3 more years of development he's yet to play above League One level.

My personal feeling is that - apart from Brooks - for a few years now, we just haven't had anyone that's up to the standard of the league we were currently in. Hopefully Norrington-Davies is the next one though.
