England Squad

With some of those diabolical choices in the squad, at least it makes gambling easier. Win and both to score, England to keep a clean sheet no, Tyrone Mings yellow card etc etc

Cheers England for the free money.

Mings is the 2nd best english CB behind maguire IMO when you take blade tinted specs off

Barkley is piss. If he wasnt at Chelsea hed be nowhere near the lineup. Same as Lingard.

Im surprised Ashley Barnes hasnt had a callup yet, although, that forward lineup is stacked.

I've been praiseworthy of Southgate and what he's attempted to do but there are some real weak areas in defence and midfield in that squad imho.

Hodgkinson Currie Jones Deane ......

In the days before media, sponsorship and premier league bias dictated who must be picked.

So many jokes in that squad, Wim Bassaka...Mount, Mings...why? Nowhere near while playing for Palace or in the championship, yet after three games they’re in. Done nothing, no experience, hardly fucking shaving.

They need to be in the U/21’s

A lot get in because of the prefix before their names, Man Utd.

pommpey Deane.
And IMHO he didn’t get the chances he should have. The way we played back then he was ideal for the job.

England squad for upcoming Euro qualifiers due to be announced at 2pm. With Gareth Southgate being at the Palace and Leicester game, are we expecting any Blades to be called up? Only really Henderson I can see being called up atm. Jack won’t be too far off either I imagine.
Six Sheffield United Women players have been called up by their relevant national teams for the upcoming FIFA international window.

Surely you jest.

All he does is big up Villa and Norwich. Mings is a decent mid to lower Prem player. Not an England international by any stretch at this time.

Outperformed by Engels in his own team, Engels isn't a full Belgian international.

He's not, but the fact you think that shows how far we've fallen in that position since the days of Terry, Ferdinand, Campbell and Carragher etc. (and yes, I know those players achieved f all with England).

Well he is an England international as he has just been called up but obviously you know more than southgate

Never said that just said I rate him and it wouldnt suprise me if he ended up at somewhere like Man U etc like Big H

Seems a bit early to judge that, given he's had basically one decent half-season in the Championship.
Which is what Southgate appears to have done. He’s a big unit, massive but very raw. He’s certainly got potential but whether he fulfills it or not is hard to tell. I’ve seen plenty of players who look like they’re going to be really good but never kick on.

Southgate needs to start concentrating on the here and now after that shitshow in Portugal. It was right to call up younger players when he took over as we needed them but an international career is around 8 years, he can’t just keep calling kids up and discarding players in their peak years. It’s not two minutes since he was building his defence around Stones, Maguire and Gomez.

If I was kyle walker id retire from international football and concentrate on engineering move to the blades

Some of you lot need to take the old Red & White Specs off.
We don't have any player thats anywhere near getting called up for England.
Henderson is probably the nearest but I still thinks he is a fair way off, he's also not really our player.

Just accept we are a hardworking team of Championship players. 😇

I know im probally preempting myself only 3 weeks in, but I am worrying we could be a victim of our success because if southgate ever leaves or is sacked. you have to think wilder is a front runner because not that many english candidates eddie howe & maybe sean dyche

looks like this could be a entertaining game & weirdly I wish him all the best. i hope kosovo are coming to win. because i couldn't tell you last time in qualifiers. away team didnt come to park bus. 90mins of attack v defence helps nobody. I was joking during the game that highlights on Bulgarian tv must be from 10:31 - 10:34.

also a interesting fact that we undefeated since that infamous wally with the brolly game when we lost to Croatia, we have played 24 home qualifers won 21 drawn 3. with only Ukraine, Switzerland & Montengro

Because of how the qualifiers are seeded, that's the cream of the crop there when it comes to qualifiers. Gone are the days where we struggle to qualify in a tough group containing Norway and Holland, or Italy and Poland.

Realise this may have been posted before it was being reported, but apparently Southgate spoke to Walker prior to the squad being announced.
There's little point taking a 29 year old right back, who's established himself at the best side in the country for a couple of no mark qualifiers when you have a couple of young players in the same position to look at. Walker apparently understood.
I'd also not rule out Southgate looking to give Wan Bissaka a run out in a nothing qualifier to stop him being poached by other national teams, in this case Congo.

While I'd agree that JOC is a better player than Mings, he's not taken the opportunity offered so far this season. Mings' transfer fee would give him the profile and get him into the managers thoughts, but JOC hasn't been quite at his best and the error for Chelsea's second won't have helped. I've little doubt he'll be in for the Euro's though if he performs to his best.
