As this concerns one of our promotion rivals (:D), I think it's relevant under 'General Blades Chat'.

Victor Moses has been prevented from playing at Newcastle tonight owing to Palace going into admin.

Whaaaaaaaaat???

This absolutely stinks.

Presumably its because they've finally had a team put a bid in? Rumours it's WBA or Forest. I'd be astounded if nobody from the Premiership came in for him - he'd walk straight into most of the teams at the bottom of the table.

he's one of their few assets worth more than 500k so I can sort of see why the administrators wouldn't want him injured but I agee on the whole, disappointing to see anyone forced out of playing for financial reasons.

maybe they have accepted a bid and the player is ready to sign for who ever in next few day which would mean they are not to play him in case of him getting injured then they would be stuck with him, and the administrators would not like that .

Ordinarily, you could probably put Speroni and Ambrose as worth 750k+. Ambrose has had a super season - signed for nowt. Speroni has always been good when I've seen him. If we wanted either of them on the cheap, now would be the time.

Looking at their central defenders, there aren't any I think we'd want. Claude Davis? Ah, nostalgia.

ambrose would be a realy good signing but i bet he wants big wages.

He won't be on big wages - Palace have been financially screwed for quite some time now, and certainly were when Ambrose joined.

don't know why he went to palace realy he could have got a better deal somewere else ?

do you think he would come to lane ???

You are being sarcastic aren't you?

Fortune looks a spent force to me (seems funny saying that after his wonder goal), and we need someone with pace.

But getting old Crazy Legs back would be a retrograde step. The guy's never been the same since leaving PNE.

If I were United, I would offer them £100K for their 5 best Academy players. They're so desperate for cash NOW, they would probably take it and judging by the likes of Bostock, Moses, Scannell et al, we could pick up a few gems for next to nothing.

Now that's good thinking. :)

Must be doubly annoying about Spurs taking the other lad that would have fetched big money for 750k, only to loan him out to Brentford. Good old 'Arry:mad:

Don't even disrespect Peter Ndlovu by calling Claude Davis crazy legs! Ndlovu is the TRUE crazy legs

Ambrose would be worth a look. And Scannell is still there too. What about Nathaniel Clyne? Add the next couple of the conveyor belt as worth a look too. I think NW blooded a new striker the other month.

and...

OK. But what if, by next Monday he hasn't gone? How would the suits explain that away?

"Well sorry, Mr. Warnock but your team were playing one of our favourite teams and we thought it only right to deprive you of your best player."

On the subject of Palace & admin. I really thought they'd clamped down on this. A ten point deduction is nowhere near enough. Palace, under the excellent Mr. Warnock, will make that up by May. It really should be demotion to a lower division plus a points deduction.

Bet Strafford's got his calculator out...

They do right to be honest, with the financial problems they have they need to protect their most valuable asset - which at present is young Victor. I have to say whenever ive seen him live ive never been that impressed but have seen him score some great goals on TV.

I think he will go to a PL club - possibly Spurs. I know the Palace situation is desperate but with adminstrators in they will want to get the highest figure possible. He wont go on the cheap so I cant see the likes of WBA and Forest being able to afford him.

I think they may have chosen administration at this point so close to the closure of the window as it will mean they get the 10 point deduction but the administrators will not be able to sell all their players until the summer. I suspect NW may have calculated along with SJ that they can avoid the drop with almost half the season left (with all the same players except Moses) and then be in the hands of new owners during the close season.

Is that the case? I don't know how this administration bollox works out but I would have thought they'd have to unload reasonably quickly and so, unless they can spark a bidding war, he would probably go under valued.
I there were already clubs interested then I think they would have got rid by now and saved the 10 pointer.

You could be right I am the same as you in having little understanding of how administration works. My presumption was based on the fact that wherever money is involved they will want to get as much as possible for him.

He will probably go slighty under-valued because of the severity of their situation but with him being their only means of significant income I cant see them selling him for pocket change. They would be left with the same problems - minus their best player.

I think you're right but it makes his righteous speel about Leicester going into admin in 2002 sound a bit hypocritical.
