Held by the Throat

I couldn't tell how bad it was at the time and haven't seen a replay. Those are kind of challenges I don't like though. If you don't get there in time there's a fair chance you're going to leave a mark. It was a daft one to go in on as well given the situation. Still, it was handbags and I don't particularly want either player sent off for that kind of scuffle.

Send them off for falling over at the first sign of contact. Send Zaha off for having a paddy over absolutely nothing. I'm not going to get overly critical of a player for getting angry about that kind of hit.

It wasn't front of mind when I typed that last response, apologies.

Agree that neither we're that bad, my issue with Sordell was the cowardice. Sordell turned his back and locked his leg which is why Coutts' leg ended up getting banana-ed.
I think it was very much a ‘strikers challenge’ no doubt, but I don’t think it was nasty. It was certainly similar to Baldock’s.

I was on the Kop so the only thing I can comment on is how quickly the stewards reacted to the fans trying to get on the pitch, excellent.

They were very similar motions, you can view it with rose tinted glasses if you wish though

I don't always agree with you, but for me they were definitely similar, I didn't really blame sordell either, neither were malicious, both were kicking the foot in the follow through really

George did very well to keep his cool in the fracas afterwards. Any reaction from him would have changed the colour of he card he was already getting.

I blame Sordell for his lack of apology to, or contact with, the Roller. That was despicable. Had it been the other way round I’m sure Couttsy would have been all over it. Nigel Clough, to be fair, did all he could.

again, couldn't agree more, but i was just discussing the tackle not what a dick he was after

Baldock sempt to be struggling to position himself during the tackle, I think it was due to Zaha being in his back pocket!

It was right under me and didn't look like baldock made any contact with him

It was stupid by Baldock and he could easily have been sent off. Needs to know when to back off. Think the ref got it right in all the circumstances. Frankly no one really wants to watch a 10 v 11 match. That's not what we paid our money for.

In general I thought ref had a pretty good game although I admit I was shouting at him every time he gave them a free kick!

Baldock definitely left his foot in later than he needed to and it looked intentional. I was nervous during the handbags as I thought there was a chance he was going to be sent off once the ref got them under control. On the replays it didn’t look like there was much contact but it was still a daft tackle.

What annoyed me more was the Palace player got up, squared up to Baldock and then dropped back to the floor when the ref came over. Stop play acting clearly the knock isnt that bad if you were able to jump up straight after.

Never been a tackle, tha's been brainwashed by Platini's mob.

Trevor Hockey would have half killed the wanker.

You could clearly see from the replay that he did leave his foot in a bit but it certainly wasn't a red card tackle ....... or VAR (manned on Sunday by Trevor Brooking) would have indicated it so 😏

However the Palace player raised his hands ....... I'm not so sure that one of ours would have escaped a red for that .......

UTB & FTP

If the palace player and then players hadn’t reacted it would perhaps have been a stearn talking to, yellow at worst.

However, the mini melee probably helped get Baldock a booking. Clever booking too if it was intentional (as it looked to be)

McArthy had only been on 4 mins, Baldock seemed to target him and then both got booked. McArthy was clearly brought on to do a job but Baldock rattled him straight away

Could’ve been worse, there were similarities with Sordell on Coutts, but I think Baldock was a little smarter

I can understand his reaction tbh. If you are calling for a red for his reaction then Baldock deserves a red too. Like Wilder says we need to get more streetwise

as i said at the time.. the palace lad raised his hands. whatever happened in the buildup is moot. that's a red.
great to see OllieMcB piling in though :D

Yellow card for Baldock was correct nothing more BUT Palace player should have had a red for his reaction and what he did. Ref gave yellow to both giving benefit of doubt to both players so subject closed really
