Held by the Throat

I couldn't tell how bad a tackle it was but Hodgson said it was a bad tackle and he's not one to exaggerate and did one of there fans get at Baldock and was quickly slung out?

It was one of those, player puts foot out to block clearance, player clears and follows through kicking the underside of baldocks boot. It's painful, but it's one of those where Baldock doesn't really do much, but the end result is a painful foot (particularly with modern day boots).

It wasn't a bad tackle.

Also Roy is chatting shit, said he's never seen a player be fouled before and get a yellow.

He got the yellow for his reaction, clown Roy.

Don’t think it was red but it was bad. Think the commentator hit the nail on the head. He reacts like that as a player who has spent a lot of time in the treatment room. Only just back and that happens. I’d go mad also.

Hodgson was responding to the question about whether Zaha was protected by the ref. He basically said he had no issue with the refs decisions. But he went on to say that it’s the first time a player has been booked for being tackled (or the reaction to the tackle). He made a point that a player should be allowed to react if you see the players ankle afterwards... meaning it must’ve been a bad tackle...

I’m not sure hodgson actually commented on the tackle

Sat near the corner flag and got a great view, Baldock was stupid to go in like that after the ball had gone out of play and was fortunate it wasn't a red.
Thats as maybe, but if ;..a player raises his hands..' its supposed to be a red card. Putting your hand around the neck of another player is raising your hands. You watch it will happen with a united player sometime this season and he will be castigated by the pundits and get a red for his trouble.

Yeah they were my thoughts as well. Looked bad from where we were but quite a long way from our seat in the SS so not 100% sure.
I was in Westfield Corner but only saw part of it due to the angle. I didn't look great, but it was the follow through and he did seem to try and pull out - just not as much as he could. Saw a few Palace fans express their anger.

It was similar to Sordell's leg breaker on Coutts and every fucker hates him for that...

For what it's worth I don't think neither were that bad, and I never hated Sordell for the challenge just his lack of empathy to Couttsy afterwards

I thought they was both going to walk to be honest. Baldock looked like he left his foot in and could have been sent off for it and then there player should have also got a red for that reaction you can't grab some one by the throat last time I checked in football or most over sports for that matter.

It felt like a bit of a needless revenge tackle for something that had happened a few mins before. It was in an area of the pitch that it didn’t need to be made. A bit Madine esque, and I think on a different day that might have been given a red.

No issue with robust tackling. McBurnie got in a couple of excellent ones that were nowhere near edging towards out-of-control red card territory.

Baldock didn't turn his back, kept his knee bent and caught McCarthy on his boot rather than halfway up his leg. Aside from that, exactly the same.

They were very similar motions, you can view it with rose tinted glasses if you wish though

Motion similar, nuances completely different. The main difference for me is that Baldock kept his eyes on the ball but Sordell turned his back.

Presumably your view is that Baldock should have seen red?

I sit close to that corner too ,and there was barely any contact ,the Palace tosser was reacting out of frustration and his own lack of ability than pain.

Must admit from John Street I didn't realise he'd caught him and assumed they were both booked for handbags after the incident, even though Baldock didn't appear to do anything. Not much chance of seeing a video I guess.

Looked a nothing of a challenge to me, Jesus Christ is this what it’s come to ??

You clearly haven’t read my original post
It wasn't front of mind when I typed that last response, apologies.

Agree that neither we're that bad, my issue with Sordell was the cowardice. Sordell turned his back and locked his leg which is why Coutts' leg ended up getting banana-ed.
