An outstanding window

We have plenty of options now. I just hope that squad cohesion is maintained. Which will be difficult of course.

This is my only real concern.

If this season's squad has last season's togetherness and mentality, we stay up comfortably.

But while we've not spent crazily and randomly enough to be accused of 'doing a Fulham' and have been measured with our recruitment, we have still brought in 9 new faces, and lost some key figures. The gelling period combined with there being fewer games in the PL provides a challenge - we need to hit the ground running with half a new squad. A particular challenge is ensuring our system continues to function without Duffy - we have great talent in that area but replicating his impact has proven easier said than done.

Hendo, Jags, Osborn and Robinson are all ones who'll fit in seamlessly. Hopefully the others do as well.

Lot of productive work on the training pitch to be done in the next couple of weeks.

Best window we have ever had, no doubt. Just really sad about Duffy, it's taken the shine off things for me a little, but time to get behind the new lads and give those PL billy big bollocks a bloodied nose or two.

Bring on Saturday!

Robinson, McBurnie, Moose already seem to have a laugh together from the behind the scenes stuff.

Then you have McGoldrick with the Irish connection, McBurnie with the local connection and sensibility to get them integrated further.

Jags is Jags and knows Besic, only really Verrips with no links.

Really don’t want to be that guy, and overall I’m happy with our signings and I’m hugely looking forward to the season and excited to see us in action in the PL ....but

Just a little concerned that we are acquiring other PL sides (like Everton or Bournemouth) cast offs. If they aren’t good enough for our peers, will they be good enough for us?
We shall see.
Who would you suggest instead ?

Out of interest BiI, what/who more were you expecting/hoping for?
I don’t profess to be an expert so I won’t pretend I have this long list of targets. I’m not even unhappy with the ones we have signed, but I had hoped maybe for one or two players who I would go “wow, nailed on to do well and start every week” . We have built a squad that we needed numbers and positions wise, I just feel there isn’t a huge improvement first team wise than last year. Although there is potentially a couple of gems signed it’s far from a sure thing. Back 5 is the same. Someone will have the very difficult job of replacing Duffy and up front we have more options but non strike me as a level above Sharp and McGoldrick.

Today has just pissed me off to be honest, was a lot happier yesterday.

Duffy departing was a real hammer blow even though it was half expected.

And was there any real need to sign Besic and Verrips? Seems like we're over-egging the pudding just for the sake of it. Strangely, both very Warnockesque signings from Wilder.
Disagree with you entirely. We needed 3 good keepers to compete with eachother. We needed someone with bite in midfield but can also play a bit of football. We got both. Also Duffy has been great for us but might be a tad too slow to play in the prem.

I'll tell thee naa for a start, Robinson will play for a top 10 Premier League club, hopefully that's us.

He's unbelievable. Different kind of player but Premier League level, if Leicester or summat had signed him everyone would be raving about him.

Hopefully, I’m quietly confident McBurnie will do well for us.

You have not seen Robinson play, the camo's I've seen he is in a different league than Sharp and Goldie. If Ravel pays off he has the abilliy to be better than Norwood in his role and Duffy in his. I can not comment on Oli B or The Moose, until I have seen them in red and white.

Every player we’ve brought in has a risk factor like injuries, attitude, unproven and stepping up to PL.
But CWAK sees something in them and hopefully will continue the magic.
Credit to the owners to back him beyond my expectations.
Tbh I thought the media predictions of doom and doom might have some legs if CWAK only had £10-20m but the £40-50m they’ve afforded him coupled with our management team and support make me think we will survive the first season.
We are under no pressure, everyone’s written us off and that makes us dangerous.
There's no "attitude" factor involved if they've been selected by our recruitment team - and the squad is big enough and good enough now to cope with any but a most extraordinary run of injuries

Fucking hell I’d hate to buy you a Christmas present!

‘Was there any need to get me some new socks, Karen!? - I’ve got at least 4 servicable pairs’

Besic is a defensive midfielder with PL experience and we don’t currently have one of them. And we’ve added some solid back up keeping options.

Agree it’s sad Duffy is going. But if he wants to leave what can you do?
Besic has ‘world cup’ experience mate ;)

Now we’ve got quality cover all over the field. Wilder has a new problem.....Keeping all the quality squad players happy and on message.
Injuries and suspensions will bite inevitably , with 3 or 4 not available they'll all need to be match ready.

I just hope that squad cohesion is maintained. Which will be difficult of course.
Much as it pains me to see Duffy go I sense in Wilders comments he pushed beyond the boundaries of Wilders culture and paid the price. That should demonstrate that he still believes in his attitude measures.

Everton and Bournemouth?

Neither side has got Tufty.

Lys Mousset is only a 'cast-off' because he's behind Callum Wilson and Josh King.
It's currently on Ceefax that we bid £22m for Sander Berg, it was rejected and Brighton have bid £28m. That shows we still have some serious money for the JTW.

I can't believe I'm the first to do this, but it's been an outstanding window. Sorry.

What a problem Darlo, eh?

The baldock/freeman with Basham alongside part worries me. Jags as the back up for Basham doesn't scream overlapping to me!

BUT Wilder works magic plus adding younger talent to parts of the pitch we were in need of youth means whatever happens i'm confident we will be in a stronger position in 12 months than we were 12 months ago!

My only moan is that we did not sell enough (fringe) players...…….. how refreshing is that?

Ceefax!......Was Bassett still manager?

On paper we have a much stronger bunch of players than we had last season, and we have a management that in all likelihood will turn them into a much stronger team than we had last season, but will it be strong enough ? that's the scary bit, because only time will tell. But I've got a feeling in me water that this could be the start of some thing really big for us, so hang on tight you lot because the seasons big dipper ride starts this Saturday...….. 😧 😧😧

Jags will have a runner like cricket.
