That's a weird one ,potter preferring maupay to mcburnie who I can't see the Brighton fans getting too excited about
I would think that it would have raised a few eyebrows.
I am sure there will be multiple factors that influenced Potter's reasoning and our camp will aware of the situation.

Ferk me look if you all want a Mcburnie then there £3.50 on the breakfast deal at MacD's, complete with a maupay slushi.

Here they are above both of em in action

I must confess I am not a fan of McBurnie.

He is scruffy and unkempt, and I don't like the fact that he wears pop socks.

Fee agreed with Swansea for Mcburnie - 17m rising to 20m.Just been on Sky.

Maupay has literally had one very decent season. McBurnie is a natural goal scorer plus McBurnie looks like a right nutter on social media videos

Ollie McB for me.

I think we’ve added some much needed pace and directness in Robinson and the Mousse.

McB seems a great all rounder from what I’ve seen. Real handful. Ability to win the ball in the air, hold it up or run at the defence directly. He’s good with his back to goal or heading towards it.

I think he could spark a great partnership with any or all our current forwards.

Not taking anything away from Maupay as I think he’s a quality player as well. Makes some great runs, finds some great positions and obviously scored a lot of goals. Not sure he’s all that clinical though - seems to miss a few of the easier chances.

Overall I just think McB edges it as a more all rounder and compliments our existing players / formation more.

Can’t fucking wait

But so has McBurnie?
I'd possibly say two. A decent return in the Championship for Barnsley in a low scoring team.

The fee is expensive, but after selling Daniel James they wasn't desperate for the cash. I'd possibly say we got Robinson/ Freeman far too cheap.

Seems to be a bright, alert lad as well. Encouraging.

In fairness Maupay hit double figures in both of his first two seasons in England. Nothing between them in that regard.
Yes agreed, seems he has a lot more to his game though. Theres a stat going around on twitter from one of these analytics guys -

McBurnie compared to other Championship strikers

2nd most headed goals
2nd most passes per game
2nd most key passes per game
4th most dribbles per game

The best all-round striker in the league.

Bollocks that's got to our Bill , and McGoldrick's second !!

This thread had quietly slipped into obscurity for obvious reasons. Only fair i should give it a friendly bounce again. I'll let the stats decide who is the better buy.

McBurnie
9 appearances 1 goal 0 assists 2 yellow cards 0 red

Maupay
10 appearances 4 goals 0 assists 1 yellow card 0 red

It disappeared because Cadette said Maupay didn't want to come and then we bought McBurnie.

Also 9 appearances but 4 were off the bench, all second half, one at 85 minutes.

Maupay 10 appearances, started 8.

Further, bit early isn't it? Wait until the end of the season, Mousset is doing better than both of them and he only cost £8-10m.

Probably for the same reason people don't review a film after the opening credits.

Not quite true that pal.

The thread was about who you would rather have regardless whether Maupay was interested or not in signing for you. Lots saying Burnie was the better player. Have a quick re- read of the thread to job your memory again.

Why would a thread stay alive when we knew he wasn't coming?

And as above, film hasn't finished yet, bit early to be handing out the Oscars.

The stats are very misleading about Maupay. Sure 2 of his are penalties and the one against Spurs was an open net and Lloris gave him ball

The only important stat is that his agent wanted an extra 800k and we wouldn't pay it

The lads obviously a mercenary and will fuck you off first chance

So? Look how football fans (especially our own) turn on a player, Why do we expect loyalty from players? Never understand this “mercenary” tag. If I was actually good at football I would be the same, its a short and fickle career.

Personally I would have liked us just to pay the rumoured agent fee and got Maupay, its a drop in the ocean when looking at the prem money.

Finally, Don't think for one second that Mcburnie wont fuck off if he was offered more money, who can really blame them!?
