Hilarious match. First 15 minutes QPR completely dominated, and created what I think were at least 4 really good opportunities, one of which Bunn made a good save from. Completely out of the blue, Monty floats a cross over to Williamson who finished it well into the corner. From there, we got a little better as the half wore on, but were hanging on at stages - Geary making a goal saving clearance at one stage. Then Evans beat the offside trap, went one-on-one, should have scored, and instead thundered it against the bar. Williamson had another effort blocked. We looked all over the place defensively at times - Taylor was being given a bit of a torrid time - but we held our lead, but in truth it could have been 3-3 at half time.

Second half we actually looked fairly good for the most part, particularly going forward. The midfield linked up well, Evans and Cresswell seemed to click a bit more, and defensively we were coping. Ward scores with his first touch after a great pass by Quinn - really should have been saved. And a minute later Ward crossed to Cresswell, who clipped it in with a messy finish that rivalled the one here in the league. We were at that point completely on top. I've no idea who was at fault for the penalty, or the goal from the free-kick, but we clung on with some tough defending - and I think Bunn made an excellent point-blank save, but I didn't get a good view of it. Who cares - we won, and it was a damned entertaining game.

Bunn 8/10 - I'm assuming he did make a save at the end. Looked good, pulled off some really good saves

Geary 7.5/10 - looks like he was struggling at times when he was off the ball, but his determination is enough at the minute to keep him going. Great clearance off the line 1st half.

Taylor 6/10 - he looked the weak link tonight I'm afraid. Much better 2nd half, but that might have been because he was under less pressure as we attacked more.

Morgs 7.5/10 - typical Morgs

Seip 7.5/10 - I like him. Seems to have a decent positional sense, and is good with his feet. Did well tonight I thought.

Williamson 8/10 - great finish, looked decent throughout today, though I hope we switch him back to the middle when Ward next starts.

Quinn 7/10 - frustrating. Great pass one minute (like for Ward's goal) then extremely wasteful the next. Some really poor deliveries from set pieces too.

Monty 6.5/10 - I didn't feel he was quite on top of his game tonight.

Harper 8/10 - thought it was one of his best performances for us tonight. Much more of a presence, some good work at the back, and used the ball intelligently.

Evans 7.5/10 - yes, he missed a great chance 1-on-1, but his overall game tonight was good. He seems quicker than in past games (slow defence?), and was noticeably stronger on the ball, and created a few chances tonight through sheer determination. Unfortunate that Wardy didn't repeat his decent cross for Cresswell for Evans when the chance game later in the game - would have been a tap in for Evans, and he clearly needs a goal, Ward hit it straight to Cerny from an identical position.

Cresswell 7.5/10 - others might not like him, I'm not one of them. Works hard, and scores ugly looking goals. Unlucky to be subbed to be honest. It'll be very interesting to see who sits it out against Middlesbrough.

Subs

Wardy - brilliant
Hendo - good to see him back
Walker - ditto

Fans - deserved a decent game and got one, great atmosphere.

not sure who the ball hit for the pen but it wasn't one, the ball was blasted at him from close range. walking back to the tube I got talking to some qpr fans who said it was neither a pen or free kick.

del boy great defensively but gave the ball away far too much when in possession.. taylor had a hard task with Routledge but stuck too it and ultimately Routledge, although he looked good, supplied very few meaningful crosses.

williamson looks a player, comfortable on the ball, good close control and can finish. harper constantly made himself available for the ball and had a good game. balcwell has a difficult decision to make as to who plays central going forward. he kind of fudged it by resting Ward and playing Willo on the right but ultimately he's going to have to pick 2 from Monty, Harper and Willo...unless he plays Ward on the left?

shame evans missed the sitter as he had a decent game, good movement and link play. cresswell also did well.

all in all a very entertaining game and a much bigger following than I expected. don't know how many were there but must have been 7-800 at least.

forgot to say I agree re Seip, good positional play and looked pretty strong. looks like we've already signed Killa's replacement and its entirely possible that if Killa is fit for Boro he'll play him at left back.

Radio said it was Geary who gave away the non penalty.

I was surprised the penalty was given, but then I was amazed we didn't get one in the first when it clearly looked like Evans or Cresswell was hauled down in front of goal.

Thanks for the report Loughboro. Not questioning your ratings but you say the defence looked all over the place at times but gave 3 of them a 7.5 out of ten? Was it just Taylor caught out and/or did they not get enough cover from midfield?

I'm curious especially because you say Seip did well, but then our defence has been pretty miserly recently with Killa being back there, whereas tonight they let in 2.

Hmm, you're right - that doesn't quite add up. Perhaps 'all over the place' is a bit harsh. I just felt they were creating chances with ease that first half. We weren't great clearing our lines, and seemed slow to react to situations.

Anyone else listening to the local London commentary hear Bradley Allen say that Cresswell and Evans were the best front two he's seen at Loftus Rd all season?!

I loved their commentary... anyone who thinks having a local pundit and a seemingly bitter old hero-striker shouldve listened to that tonight and marvelled at the loyalty of keith Edwards :p

They reckoned couldve been 6-3 at HT, then in two minutes of madness we suddenly go miles ahead. At the time i was discussing the relative statii of the local teams with my W*dn*sd*y fan mate (I'm sorry but I refuse to call him a pig) - he was saying they played it pretty for 30 and got hammered in the last 60... better the devil you know in Blackie and the lump-its... be lucky to stay up.... I jokily said remember the derby? Couldve been 10-0 at HT in the end we were hanging on.... at 0-3 he was telling me how wrong I was.. but its funny how events change games. the penalty according to them was a blasting cannon that might have hit Geary on the arm but wasnt penalty call stuff, ditto the FK. ALL teams have a FK in them, suddenly we're 3-2 up.... not 3-0 but for once I felt we'd hold on... because the commentary was so anti-QPR, as seemed the crowd, the home crowd sounded incredibly hostile, the radio dour and resigned to whatever... much like Edwards sounds but a lot worse!!!

Still least we're in that hat against that pig Megso............ oh hang on, new manager syndrome..... ummm new manager that beat us hands down 3 times last season..... talk about written in the stars

so who do we want in the 5th round???? :D

.

Attendance 5,780.

Understandable in all honesty given the conditions.

Muchos respect to those who went down.

My understanding is that they didn't "let in 2". Neither the pen nor free kick should have been given. The ref gifted them to QPR.

The pen can be claimed as unfortunate.

But the free kick was a cross and head in - so that to me shows the defending to not be the standard required (whoever it may be at fault)
