For Forum Readers who don't know, Hasan Ayari is a youngster at the Academy with a remarkable backstory. When he was Six, he was an internet sensation, with over 10 million hits on YouTube. Filmed doing ball tricks, dribbling & skills - he was in promotional videos for his family's "Soccer School". Dubbed - The Little Messi.

Foxy I'm not sure. He's certainly quick on the ground, the ball sticks to his feet. And, his basic instinct is just to run run run at players. He doesn't do much other running mind. I've seen him be the victim of some horrendous bollockings off his teammates for not working hard enough. Off keeper Sam Kelly particularly. Of course, with his skills, you can't help but notice him. But, I'm not sure how effective he is. He hasn't really had a proper U18 league season yet. Let's see how he shapes up then. You?

I wouldn't know. Third cousins, second removed, by marriage, with a Brother from another Mother, wouldn't know. But, doubt it. Kyron Gordon & Tyler Smith are Brothers & only one is called Smith.
I haven't really seen enough of Andre Brooks to comment. But, Frank Maguire is one of those combative, run anywhere, box to box midfielders that you can't help notice, as they're always in the game. I like the look of him.

The reason I asked was a combination of the bollockings and the game completely passing him by on the very limited time I've seen him. A little unfair for me to jump to conclusions so early, hence looking for other opinions :)

I'd seen the back story following your previous post about him, and was ready for someone trying to be the star of the show, but didn't even really get chance to see anything, the few times the ball came to him, it also didn't stick, with him hammered for not controlling it.

I'm sure there is a lot more to be seen.

come on leaps and bounds this year so major credit to him, I don’t think he’ll ever be good enough for us but he’s improved a lot recently so hopefully will make a career in football
 
Of course, the bit that ISN'T said is the most important. Ange often plays at LWB & Striker in the SAME MOVE. He's at the top of his game at the moment. He more often than not Assists his Goals....

The point isn't that he's versatile. The point is he's a Development Player. Of course he doesn't know what his most effective position is yet. Of course the Academy Staff don't know what his most effective position is yet. He's still developing & learning as a player. For those at the back, we do not recruit left wing backs for the Shirecliffe Academy. We do not recruit strikers for the Shirecliffe Academy. We recruit footballers ... and then see how it goes.
 
Out playing on loan as of today isnt he?

Good opportunity to ask a question I’ve been thinking about for a while. Do the acadamy line up with the same formation as the first team? The fact Angelo is a LWB would suggest so

No No & Thrice No. But, it is fair to say the U23s mainly start with a back 3 & wingbacks. The U18s rarely to never. The U18s are nearly always a conventional four. Because it is Development football there are many, many more in game positional & tactical changes than in first team football. Because player development matters more than game result. There are great stories of Academy teams (more generally, not necessarily ours) being drilled all week as a Three, sent out as a three, but switched to a four after 15 minutes, with no warning & no reason. There's a story that Ajax sent out with their strikers in defence & their defence as strikers. Taking players out of their comfort zone is a great route to development.

But, fair play, yes, the U23 part of the Academy will more often than not set up as a three. With Ange either at LWB or up top.

I remember watching a game when they played at Saltergate - Kyle Naughton played left wing with Kyle Walker at right wing in a 4-4-2.

Ok that makes sense. U18s development as a player is imperative by the time they reach u23s the importance shifts to developing a Sheffield united player and the fine tuning?

Why put all the effort into developing a RW or a RB for example when the progression path doesn’t exist.also means that player is ready to step up and deputise from the U23s, skipping the u23s and going straight to first team from the 18s isn’t really a thing I’d imagine.

Anyone under 18 who is good enough for the first team squad will have likely spent time either on loan or with the u23s anyway
