A smoke-free Bramall Lane

Like I said, I presume the club is obliged to do this due to PL rules. I doubt anyone is going to be banned and have their season ticket confiscated. If that happened there would be a massive outcry.

Most PL stadiums aren't like ours. I doubt many -- if any -- have large areas open to the elements where fans congregate at half time, like the Lane does.

Back of the Kop, yeah that's a bit Draconian and would be well out of order, but people think it's Ok to vape on the stands, because it's "healthy" supposedly, that's what they should be looking at.

A huge white cloud of vapour may only last for a second or so but people go at it like a newborn on a tit, more clouds than people from the Lavatorial Shakespeare Society getting up every 5 minutes for their performance of Twelfth Shite.

Ever been fed up of the latecomers from the pub? well now add to this the latecomers having a last smoke before kick off, the ground maybe only 60% full at kick off and the ground retail outlets will be down on takings. Also does this mean the Cherry street car park, is it classed as part of the ground?

I think a good idea.Been to many a sporting event where smoking was allowed and totally took away from the experience.

Vaping is fucking stupid
How has vaping ever spoiled your experience, really?

In my experience, it’s the anti smoking nazis who are so anti for the sake of it, that they melt at the sight of a puff of anything.

Is it really impossible to manage two hours without a smoke?

Ffs some toys coming out of the pram over this.
If you haven’t ever enjoyed it then you wouldn’t know.

A half time toot on my (now) vape, in the open air, is a very enjoyable ritual for me. I fail to see how it affects anyone.

Applauding it because it somehow offends at least makes some sense.

I enjoy a pint, I think you should be able to bring one into your seat, but you can’t so I can manage a couple of hours without one.

Ah, I see. Let’s ban all enjoyable things because you can’t do one of yours. That’s nailed it.

It seems we are having to apply Premiership rules even the draconian one that states you won't be allowed back in if you leave the ground.

I doubt this is enforceable at the back of the Kop due to the number who partake in the half time drag. Unfortunately I can see this being driven underground into the toilets and that will cause more of a health risk than open air smoking.

Mind you any breaches will give Scumamore, Richards and his cronies an excuse to deduct us points in an effort to see us relegated. Oh how it must hurt them that we are back in their exclusive Club.

It was completely ignored last time, and will be this. It would make much more sense to allow smoking areas, and manage the situation.

I agree but it seems the Club have no leeway and are being dictated to by strict Premiership regulations. Cigars in executive boxes are obviously excluded.

Well, you haven’t explained why you agree with the ban, yet you support it with the rider that you can’t have a pint in your seat.

It’s a Premier League wide ban, whether I or you agree with it or not you have to follow it, same as the nation wide no alcohol in the seats ban.

If someone gets kicked out the ground and loses their seat for violating it its their own fault. Anyway if the Kop gets redeveloped as planned there wouldn’t be any “outside areas”.

Two hours without is more than manageable I would have thought. Ignoring the fact anyone who smokes these days knowing the dangers want their heads looking at imo.

Can totally understand the ban in the stands, enclosed concourse, bars, toilets etc. and think all would agree that this is obviously acceptable.
However, to impose a smoking ban in external areas such as at the back of the Kop, down the steps or on South Stand external 'slope' is ridiculous and just wont happen.
Yeah, there be a few 'busy bodies' employed to show willing and try to enforce it to begin with but once they've been told to fuck off a few hundred times and they then realise. . . . 'Er, hang on, are we meant to go round telling ALL these people to put their fags out' . . . . . Well, it just wont last long will it?!😂

Sounds like they are going to come down hard on the smokers (see main site for details). Going to cause no end of bother behind the kop  UTB
I am thinking of taking up smoking as a hobby. I’ve been reading all about it and it sounds great. I think I’m going to go for a Sherlock Holmes style briar. I have one passed down to me from my grandfather who died of throat cancer before I was even born. It’s got a very deep bowl, fashioned into a Bison’s Head, and a long curved stem. I am going to buy some Erinmore or Ogden’s Flake tobacco and get sparking up. I think I’ll look really cool and sophisticated.

Does anyone know the best area of the Lane for smoking? Preferably somewhere where I can easily be seen on telly with my briar?

Yeah I’m sure the Premier League will soon decide their rules are stupid and change them!

The principle isn't how harful smoking is or long you can go without one. It's an example of the PL dictating terms that are nothing to do with football. It should be SUFC that decides if and where fans can smoke.

PL Twats. They'll be stealing seats from our season ticket holders next. Oh sorry, they already have.

Does all the land at the back of the kop form part of the stadium complex?

Apart from Bramall Lane I cant think of another Premier League stadium with “outside” areas within the ground.

They aren’t going to make an exception for us. As others have said just put up with it for an hour or two.

Cos vape stinks. People sat in their seats puffing away like Ivor the Engine, so we can breath in their Opal Fruit flavoured steam or canabis flavour stench steam.
Do it in a smoking area , fine, I don't think a full-ground ban is sensible.
Cigs and douche flutes should all be in the same smoking area outside the stands.

Imagine a world where grown men choose their vape juice flavour.

That, and carrying little man bags for their wallets, keys, phone, presumably tampons.

Imagine that.

Imagine.

MK Dons away, that one we won 1-0, Scoogs scoring.

I had to put my mobile in my mouth in order to applaud something - my pockets were probably full of hitchhiking signs and edible undies, that sort of thing - and a steward appeared immediately to tell me I couldn't vape.

"Yeff, buth am I okay tho puth my ffttthone in my mouffff?" I replied. He scuttled off sharpish.

Ruined the whole 1-0 win for me, that did.

Perhaps, though are you sure the PL rule was in place then? Last time we were in the PL you could legally still smoke in a pub, as the (excellent) smokefree law for enclosed spaces only came into England in July 2007.
