CONFIRMED Dean Henderson returns on season long loan

DH & his representatives may have painted themselves into a corner with this. I’m sure if he was to forgo £1m in wages next year, to cover 1/2 of the loan fee, a deal could be done. It’d be short term pain for long term gain. I also suspect that any bonuses & endorsements he will get as a prem keeper will partially off set his loss. He would still be earning considerably more money than last season, with the contractual security of knowing that he’s on £50k a week.

I see where you're coming from Nic but it seems Man U wouldn't let him go without signing the new contract and I would imagine that Man U are stipulating it has to be paid by us which then makes it a harder deal but I guess Hendo could have said he doesn't need the full amount - can you imagine any footballer saying that?!

I hope he comes back but if not I'm sure Wilder can get a decent keeper too.

It’d be a rarity I’ll admit! :)

If I had his best interests at heart as an advisor, I’d be stressing the need for a full season playing in the prem, building on the last two seasons work. The quality of English keepers is questionable, and DH has a really strong chance of making the full England team.

I’d obviously be pushing for a pay rise for my client, but I’d see it as secondary to getting him out on loan to a prem club (us). A good season with us, some full England caps & a squad place for euro 2020, and DH’s gone up a couple of levels & the £’s will flow in and your negating position is strengthend

Being third choice 'keeper probably means that demanding anything with a club like Man Utd isn't the smartest move. Something isn't quite right as Wilder needs a first choice keeper here, now! Both clubs appear to have different priorities, and whatever Henderson brought to this club last season, the clock is ticking and we need to find a first choice 'keeper as soon as possible.

Anyway, back to Henderson. We should have fucked him off as soon as he went fishing for a new contract at Man Utd.
The time it's taken with Man Utd being unsure whether to give it him a new contract or not, plus we've run the risk of his new contract pricing us out of a potential loan move.
This showed what really motivated him.
We were told we only want players who want to be here, yet we've bent over backwards for somebody that doesn't.

We should have immediately tabled a £7-£8 million bid for him on the first day of the transfer window opening, with decent Premier League wages.
This would have given Man Utd something to think about, they were unsure about offering Henderson the improved contract initially and this could have been their way out of it.

They could always have bought him back if he proves himself, saving themselves £75,000 a week and pocketing £7-£8 million quid in the process, but at least we'd have got something out of it as well.

Yeah cause that's how football works isn't it?! Agents dont exist, players dont want better contracts when they've earned it, and the club who a player is signed to always enter into negotiations about loaning a player out before their contract staus is sorted, thus having no idea what financials will be in place for the new season.

As for us, why would we hang on for something we were pretty certain all parties concerned wanted to happen?

I hate it when people make statements as though they have the supreme opinion on. You're one of the best and to be honest, your knowledge seems limited.

I can understand why people think you're a pig but I dont think you are, you're probably just a self righteous prick.

As if we wouldn’t ask if he was for sale when we started negotiating the loan. And as incompetent as Man U are, you’d expect them to mention it if they were considering selling him.

It's agenda driven and he's playing the long game on this one.

He can't beat up the club for not backing CW, given the players we've bought, so he's setting up this straw man.

Give it a month and he'll be bemoaning our lack of ambition (for not buying a player who was clearly never for sale).
 
My thoughts on the economics of what man united want for hendo

By all accounts that’s 50k per week and a £2m loan fee. Total cost for the season £4.5m

If we bought a keeper for £8m (a heaton for example) and signed him to a three year contract even at the upper end of our wager scale (say £40k per week)

The total outlay would be £8m plus wages of £6m = £14m. Divide that by the 3 year contract and that comes out at £4.7m for the year.

The loan fee does seem disproportionately high given if we bought the player 1) he’s ours and 2) we would also have an asset we could sell if required.

So I don’t blame wilder for trying to negotiate abit harder for this. We do need a decision this week though.

I didn't do much wrong though did I. I took far more abuse for having alternative opinions, it was only when I retaliated that something was done about it.

We're little over a fortnight to go and haven't even got a first choice keeper, and the big name striker thing won't happen either, if you can call Maupay or McBurnie big name strikers

That's not what I said.
I said "WE SHOULD HAVE SUBMITTED A BID TO BUY HIM" if he wanted to get first team football with us he could still have gone back to Man Utd if he was deemed good enough.
If our bid was good enough for one of Man Utd's reserve players it would have been accepted, we'd have then seen where Henderson's priorities were.

If he wanted to improve his contract at Man Utd and was only obsessed with doing that we should then have walked away and got somebody else. We've wasted months fucking about with this

We offered £10m for Henderson, fairly early on, but Man U said he wasn’t for sale.
 
Find it odd that folk are more concerned with slagging each other off in a pissing contest than we are 16 days away from Bournmouth with no keeper and no main striker.

My return couldn't have come soon enough for them, they'll be so concentrated on slagging me off that they'll completely forget that we've signed two mid range Championship players, one failed Premier League player, one failed everywhere player and one old man
