Prolificity is a strange thing. Some are blessed with it early in their careers, then it fades away, like day into night. For others it comes later and burns bright like an eternal star. For many, it never comes at all.

It is too early yet to judge the track record of a young man who has been prolific in one place and not had much opportunity to repeat that in another.

He will get that opportunity here.

He’s young, fit, fast, strong, and French!

I’m looking forward to seeing his hat trick at Bournemouth on the opening day of the season.
£10m is a hang of a lot money to find out.

That's what makes Wilder a good manager - he's sees possibilities where others only see problems.

Although, anyone that saw McGoldrick play against us for Ipswich at the Lane the season before would have been impressed. I remember at the start of that game when his name was announced, I said to my son...."McGoldrick? Jesus, is he still playing? I thought he'd retired. He's past it".

And then as the game got under way, I thought he played really well, great first touch, quick feet, I could see why he had been a good player once.

The only thing I would say is that, living 4 hours away from your training ground isn't great preparation for any footballer - and that was the case with him at Ipswich. I'm not saying he travelled it everyday, I'm sure he didn't, but I bet the bedsheets pulled on mornings when he did. His "long term injury" has miraculously healed now that he has a shorter commute. And we have benefited from that immensely. In fact, he's probably playing the best football of his career now.

I still don't think he's a striker though - but hey-ho! That doesn't matter. We'll just buy a few more who are.

Paying Bournemouth £10m for a player they signed for £5.7m and has a scoring ratio of 1 goal in 14 games sounds a bit of a gamble to me.......
When you think about it Bournemouth signing Brooks was obviously not based on his goal scoring record. He had scored around 3 in much more game time than Mousset

Brooke’s was never seen as a goal scoring centre forward though and he had never demanded a fee of £5.7 m prior to his transfer to Bournemouth unlike Mousset.

1 goal every 14 appearances says he doesn’t.

Let’s hope he does score the goals and as usual I am talking bollocks.....

He has played a grand total of 1190 minutes in the Prem. That’s about 12 full games. In which he’s scored 3 goals.

3 in 12 isn’t bad for a young lad in any way shape or form. Especially considering he’s usually brought on as a sub late in games.

Some of his appearances , in fact 85 per cent of them.have been as a sub for under 15 minutes. In terms of goal per minute it's 1 goal every 3 /4games. I trust Wilder knows theres something there. Hes not one to squander money. If he's seen by the French national team as decent. I think there's cause for optimism regards his value

Fingers crossed all the stats stack up and we have unearthed a gem
