One year on from our first publication, we are introducing Dem Blades Annual 2019. This years’ edition is all about away.

---You can pre-order copies by following this link ---

This time around, we have more contributors than ever before – that is more contributors giving up their time to create something with an authoritative Blades voice. We pick up the story during the 1899 FA Cup run, and we end in the here and now.

In between, we have touching, weird and wonderful variations on the theme of away. We zoom in on the last five decades of being a Blade away from home. We discover Kevin Gage's definition of Playing Away, and Nick Montgomery tells us about his first good away performance (was there one?!).

We also have our usual array of features from people well known to you. You may recognise their reg plates as Weirdo1, CBF 818, <10.

We’ve had loads of support for our fanzines on Twitter and Facebook, but nowhere more so than here. So I hope you’ll take the plunge and read our latest offering – if you have any questions, thoughts, grumbles, moans…do let me know.

UTB.

Oh and....the cover

We ran some head to head polls on twitter asking fans to choose their favourite away kits of all time; we then took the top ten and asked them to vote to choose a final four. Those were 1978, 1989, 1991, 1993. An artist, who I know frequents this forum, then turned them into the bold, imaginitive designs you see flashing away below. They may wish to 'out' themselves to take some well-earned kudos.

Mate, on each envelope I’ll be writing a manifesto on the best and worst ways to punch a child in the kidneys, that is, as the song goes, what it’s all about. (That manifesto is actually my signature too, so doubles as a signed copy - really problematic to try and fit it on the back of a debit card though.)

Lovely stuff...I’m in! (And have been since the first one...I read the fanzine before it was cool 😎)

Oh you git, 4 different covers?! I want them all! They all look awesome!

If I order 4 will I get all 4 of them?

Thanks WhiteHawk. I'm biased, but they do look good, right?

If you order four you will get all of them, we'll make sure that anybody ordering more than one gets different covers.

Probably come out with 4 of the best ever shirts there.

Checkout goes to blank page. Can I order to my son's address in Sheff by adding notes too?
For his birthday😀

They look fantastic mate, I'm so tempted to order 4 so that I get them all!!

Be my guest. Do you have a favourite?

I think so. I like the Wards plain white from the late 90s, and the 1970s one with the diagonal stripes. In fairness, we had a design prepared for every away kit since the 19070s...as per below.

Ordered. First timer and looking forward to it!
Good stuff. Once you've had a read, do let us know what you reckon. In terms of structure and content, the annual is a bit different to our quarterly editions. More themed, more timeless, more bound up in looking back rather than ahead.

When you say 'goes blank'?

Yeah yeah, we shoud be able to pick that up on the notes. But I'm pretty sure you can enter a delivery address. Let me know if it's still a problem?

Will keep trying and add notes. Cheers.

If people are ordering through work, the proxies may have an issue as areas of the site appear to be “unrated” so they could be blocked by default.
Incidentally, did you happen to locate any of the the older ones Steve?

I can usually access BigCartel from work - but I'd be interested to know if there are any problems like that.

I did look, and I'm sorry to say we don't have any to sell. We only have a couple left and I'm afraid we need 'em. Sorry mate.

Not a problem, I’m sure I’ll get hold of copies from the folk on here. cjx blade has already offered me one. Thanks again for looking.

I'm only interested if the children being kidney punched are abused orphans...

Otherwise the squeals just don't sound the same...

Ordered looking forward to it I got the 1st annual but I was too slow on the quarterly one’s still pissed off about it  :p when you posting them out Steve?

If you don't want to miss out in 2020, the subscription will be available in December. And that gets you all the quarterlys. We're hoping to make it a bit cheaper if we can too; it's fair old saving in contrast with buying them (and missing owt) individually. Good xmas pressie too 😉

See that is one of my favourites. I was about 10/11 at the time
I wish the purple sash kit had been voted as one of the top 4 for one of the covers. One of my favourite shirts and looks great as the cover (that GIF cycles through the images pretty quickly but I still managed to screen shot this at the first attempt!!)
