Can’t imagine we’d be signing Robinson & Maupay.

It sounds like the sums around Maupay has reached a stage whereby we no longer see it as Value For Money (relative to our budget constraints). If his Agent is intent on delay tactics and he is coming in on a disproportionate wage to the rest of our squad then maybe Wilder has decided it simply isn’t worth it.

If we think we can still bring in McBurnie, with Robinson in lieu of Maupay then this is the way forward.

The longer this saga drags on, the more unsure I am on Maupay. I think I’d rather have McBurnie if I’m completely honest. He did well in a frankly dire team, and i think if we only got McBurnie we would manage. I feel we only got Maupay we’d struggle as he’s in a similar mould to Sharp.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Agent is delaying as we’re not Maupay’s first choice. In which case, Maupay probably would become a last ditch signing should nobody “better” come in for him.

Wilder won’t be played like that, sounds like he’s already moved on with Robinson, an excellent alternative at a fraction of the cost.
