Jansson's a good defender with some extreme positive and negative character traits who can have the odd stinker, including one or two against us.

As a signing for us I don't think he's viable, although I don't rule him out as a RCB because he's decent enough on the ball and our requirements from that position will change a bit.

Janssons best season with Leeds was when he partnered Bartley and that was mainly because he had someone to cover mistakes. I'm not saying this as a negative but more to show how he works in a system where he is 'first wave' who uses his physicality to track attackers down. Its important however that he has another player as 'second wave' to stay back and pick up any pieces. He's often seen as a centre of a 3 because he's a big bugger but he doesnt work there in my opinion because of this style of play.

Its similar to Basham in that regard really... Anyone else remember the games in League 1 when he played the centre of a 3? He was shocking. Look at him now though, he is in a system where his abilities in tracking down players and breaking out of the box are fully utilised along with a Wright/Stearman/Egan to bark orders at him and sweep up after. He's now one of my all time favourite players to put on a Blades shirt.

Its all about how you are used; If Wilder signs Jansson I'd be expecting him as an upgrade on Basham.
