Sheffield United looking at Maupay
Promoted Sheffield United are trying to pull off an audacious record swoop for prolific Brentford striker Neal Maupay.
French forward Maupay,22, smashed 28 goals for the Championship Bees last season.
Now United boss Chris Wilder is trying to add him to the Blades’ squad to take on the Premier League.
Wilder has already broken the Bramall Lane club’s transfer record once this week bringing in Luke Freeman from QPR.
The undisclosed deal eclipsed the £4m United paid for John Egan last summer from Brentford.
But any move for Maupay will smash that figure.
Brentford are believed to be demanding well over £15m for the forward signed from St Etienne for £1.7m in July 2017, which has cooled rival interest from Aston Villa.

...but he's not English ....Shhhhhhhhh!

Hes not really been linked with anyone else except Villa and they must have blown their budget so the chances of being gazumpted are hopefully low. He must have been up to Sheffield and cant have failed to be impressed by the ground and facilities. Why wouldn't he come ? Bigger question is whether he really is our number one target?

I think everything is falling into place for us to get Maupay AND McBurnie.

Freeman - fee largely covered by Adams sell on.
Jagielka - coming available on a free, likely accepting average wages to return, saving us looking elsewhere at more expensive cover.
Henderson - loan
A N Other - loan

Players such as Fer also then being available for free.

Leaving a large pot of money for said strikers.

Like I say, falling nicely into place.

Yes, and the apparent lack of serious interest in McBurnie and Maupay.

Henderson - Loan
Keeper - Free
Jagielka - Free
RWB / RCB - Loan?
LCB / LWB - Not a big fee
Fer - Free
Morrison - Free
Freeman - £5m
Maupay - £15m
McBurnie - £12m

Probably won't even go over £35m. It definitely does look very possible to weight the spend heavily towards the strikers while still getting what we need elsewhere.

I do wonder whether we'll go for a wide forward as well though, we seem to want one.

Forgot about Morrison - makes it even better.

I think he wants to get Henderson in, then draw the Maupay/McBurnie deals to a conclusion (successful or not) and then see where we are at with budget etc.

We were far more likely to sign him when the thread said Neil.
I reckon we've blown it now he's back being all French.

Watkins today, Maupay later in the month is my prediction.

Shoot me down if you want but pre season should be interesting if we get maupay and Watkins plus mcburnie I think we will go with lone striker and 2 in behind

I haven't got a clue why you posted that, but I think she fancies me......
Hands off! She's been mine since she heard about the "Kylie Korner" I had in my bedroom 30 years ago. (Kylie Korner was a collection of tasteful posters in the corner of my room, just for clarity).
