Didn't Warnock pick Jags at right back in this game, ?

Possibly. I just remember thinking when I saw the team that he should have picked Davis to mark Heskey.

For all Claude's unpredictabilities, I don't think Heskey would have been able to hold the ball up so easily against him.

It's pathetic how fucking Twitter and Instagram have effectively replaced clubs' official sites.

I also get the impression that there's a pathetic competitive element with the marketing departments at rival clubs when it comes to these videos. They think they're much more significant than they are.

They think their fanbase is primarily a bunch of giddy social media obsessed children.

That's social media for you, I think it's wank personally, but I seem to be in the minority unfortunately.

If those shitty videos really do delay things then I despair....

What do they think we are, exactly? Who are these videos for?

Photo/video. 'Blades have signed X'. Manager/player comments. Done. How difficult can it be?

This is how it'll go down I reckon.

Filming/photoshoot, copied and distributed, someone spends an hour going through them looking for the good ones and messes about with them on Lightroom and Photoshop to make them too dark, as seems to be the fashion.

While this is going on, there's a little meeting, what music do we have, how long does will it last, have we got a template.

Then they get on Premiere and After Effects and spend easily an hour making a video for twatter and the official site, another 20 cropping and moving shit about for square video formats like Instagram.

Checked by someone higher up, phonecalls, released.

All told I bet it's easily 3 hours on a good day without rendering issues, spelling errors, lost files etc.

Just take a picture on an iPhone and get it on the website.

Working in a marketing department I can confirm this is exactly how things tend to work! Agreed though, frustrating!

It's not an exciting signing like signing someone in their prime or to develop like Maupay, if that happens, but Jags could still prove to be a vital player next season and we need some experience on and off the pitch. Its a no brainer to me.

Welcome back Jags.

Yeah, our official site was always on the ball with everything United...

What's more pathetic is people being so impatient that they can't wait an extra 24 hours for a signing to be made official because a bit of footage and some photos need to be produced to put on media outlets that a significant proportion of our fanbase use on a daily basis.

You would say that, to be fair.

Everything should be on the O/S first. In adequate detail. But they don't give a fuck about that. Too busy working on their 'Twitter game'.

Welcome to 21st century player announcements...

It’s not official till I’ve received the official text. We haven’t signed anyone in years...

Those moaning about the lack of speed on the official news front are forgetting the summers where some of us racked up huge phone bills calling the Bladesline in the hope of some/any news.

Meaning?

Says who and why?

All the people who check the OS for official news rather than the clubs official social media channels. The OS is an absolute car crash of a website from a UX perspective and gets far less traction that our twitter and Instagram pages which also help bring new fans to the club extending our reach as a club, the OS, does nothing.

No, they definitely haven’t. Unless they’ve fallen off since I saw him play about two months ago.

Cranie was a good championship player but doesn’t want to be a squad player so he’s left. There wasn’t really a choice between Jags and Cranie, one wants to play for us, the other wants to seek regular football elsewhere.
His legs have gone us a well known football analogy indicating he’s s past it. It’s what, apparently a lot of Everton fans are saying in there farewell posts to Jags

That picture taken on a Nokia 3210 or summat? Can tell they don't have a Huawei P30 beast with 30x zoom.

Man needs a new phone.

To be fair - it’s all marketing isn’t it? We’re in the premier league now and have the opportunity to get involved with a global fan base. Stuff like this does help.

I’m not saying I agree but look how much publicity Bristol city got for their goal scorer gifs/vids last year. It’s oleasing we’re recognising this impact imo even if it’s not for everyone.

As long as signings are happening I’m not bothered if they happen now or a few hours down the line personally

Yes, I know what it means. I saw him play about two months ago and he was fine. Everton have ambitions to challenge the top four so he’s never going to be part of that. It doesn’t mean he won’t be a decent squad player for us.

The OS has always been a bit useless. I'd say it's much better than it used to be. But if the majority of web users tend to gravitate towards social media these days, which they do, that's clearly where the attention is going to go.

There's nowt that gets announced on social media which isn't on the OS within the following 20 minutes.

Had an hour to think and actually like the thought of being able to bring Jags on alongside Egan when we go to a flat back 4 in games which I expect will be a little more often next season.. the big upside is the influence he has on Egan
