Commiserations mate.

What with String, boo radley amd LYDON it's been a bad year for losing big characters. Our mate Chris 'Guvnor' Ashton went too in February.

That's enough to send anybody over the top mate! Commiserations to you anyhow. You seem like a nice lad from the stuff you post on here. I hope also that those sad memories are tinged with wonderful ones too? That's generally how it goes. I bet you had some wonderful warm memories thinking back to those times eh? I'm sure you did. And when you're feeling sad it's always good to remember the joy from those times as well. And I bet there were plenty. My mother was my rock. For lots of reasons. Not least, that my father wasn't. She died 9 years ago now. Do you know what mate? every time I think of her I feel happy, never sad. I usually break into a big smile. Because I think of all the wonderful times I had with her and what she gave to me - in very difficult circumstances. Memories are precious. I could feel very sad thinking about what she's missed out on since she's gone - but I prefer to think about what wonderful times she gave me - and my family. And what an eccentric old lady she became and how much joy she gave us! Mad as a bloody hatter! But wonderful with it!

It's funny isn't it how past matches, or moments, or even music, in fact, particularly music, bring back evocative memories? Every time I hear "Rose Garden" by Lynn Anderson, or "You Can Do Magic" by Limmee and The Family Cooking" I think of the early 70's watching United. What a great era that was. I do feel emotional, just listening to songs from that era. A lot of it is linked to watching United! It's been a big part of my life since I was about 12 years old. It's my club. It's our club. It gives us something special doesn't it? Despite all the shite that seems to come with it!
