I've yet to see many "we're plucky little Sheffield United crumbs from the table"comments outside Topplayersleave posts (and now yours) it's one of those myths supposedly held by thousands of Blades that no one can ever actually pin down. You probably should read more and post less. Think you'd find there are plenty who hold the view our owners are responsible for the failures of the last few decades and have done nothing to encourage belief and expectation in expecting better. Pains me to say it but those cunts in S6 put us to shame in that regard.

I should read more? Try reading my post. I didn't comment on those who put the blame on McCabe. I queried, very clearly, the claim that a large proportion of our fan base were "happy" with mediocrity and said is a myth perpetrated by those who do blame McCabe, but who never find quotes ( outside the odd "he saved us from admin" which l agree is a crock) to back that assertion up.

If you take S2 as a representative sample of Blades opinions would you say a majority are happy with our track record?
The "it's easy to spend other people's money" brigade is quite well represented along with the clapping seals.
There are a few doomsday slashers but far more who criticise with honesty and justification.

I don't for a moment think either side are bigger Blades but I do honestly think anyone unable to accept criticism of the clubs stewardship over the last 50 years doesn't look with objectivity.

Leaving history to one side my only concern right now is missing a once in a generation opportunity to consolidate in the top flight if off field shenanigans prevent the best manager well have in decades from fulfilling his and our dream

Yep. As l've said on the Court threads more than once, they could do a deal, get some money and move on. Instead, they're both chasing the big pot. Be difficult to have much sympathy for the loser if there was even a chance of a deal on the table.
