The fact that on a 'Wilder may leave' thread that I am gonna have to disagree with you about Margot Robbie (she's way above Average at best.... she is lovely) says all we need to say about this thread. ;)

There’s an argument that the most difficult part of Wilder’s job has been achieving things whilst those two twats owned the club. Getting Sheffield United into the top division shouldn’t really be considered a miracle, just a job well done. It’s only after ten plus years of KM fucking around (and Andrex in the latter years) that has made what Wilder’s done look incredible.

Basically, CW has managed to undo much of the damage KM has done to the club. If him and Andrex piss off, there’s a fair chance the manager’s job will actually become easier and our next manager won’t have to be a miracle worker, just decent.

And not one person has considered that CW might end up being another Warnock; brilliant in the championship, not good enough for the PL. I remember people banging on about what a great job Holloway was doing at Blackpool but who’d want him now? Both Adkins and Lambert won back to back promotions. There’s no guarantees.

Wilder has chosen to focus his recruitment drive on players from the Championship with the ability to step-up. But after emphasising the importance of character, he could also decide to sign at least one tried and tested name to aid United's survival effort.


"We want to build properly," Wilder said. "We want to bring the right people in. And those are people who want to come here for the right reasons. Because they are going to be proud to pull on the shirt and represent the club.
"If that isn't their motivation, then they're not going to be for us. As I've always maintained, we're not scared to say 'no' to a deal if we feel it isn't right for us. But we always try and do our homework on people."
 
You might think that the Sky guy who started this rumour, if he was so ITK with our club might have broken the news that Norwood was playing the latter part of the season with a niggling injury.

I think the only thing that will stop Wilder being successful in the Premier League is our boardroom. Blackpool put a £10,000 a week cap on players salaries in the Prem so I think it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened regardless of who was in charge. Adkins did quite well with Southampton, there was a massive outcry amongst Saints fans when they sacked him for no apparent reason, and he is still extremely well thought of down there.

Wilder has come along and rescued both of our boardroom clowns and they still can't stop quibbling. Some will say McCabe deserves credit for appointing him, but lets be right, he was a cheap option at the time who desperately wanted the job, probably when nobody else of any substance did. It worked fantastically, but nobody in the boardroom can take any credit for it, they gave him nothing to work with as usual, but his enthusiasm for the club has rubbed off on his players, something that other managers didn't have.

If Wilder had just taken another club up to the Premier League there wouldn't be any story whatsoever linking him with a move back down to Sheffield United in the Championship despite the fact that he's a United fan, it would just sound ridiculous. If he'd taken the Charlton job and got them promoted back to the Championship there would be no story linking him to Sheffield United either because he'd have been way above our radar by then and it would sound equally ridiculous.

But it apparently doesn't sound so ridiculous the other way around, the stock and public opinion of Sheffield United is so pitiful that some people can actually say stuff like "he's moving down a division to West Brom" and have people actually believe it has some substance.
The pitiful and pathetic public opinion of Sheffield United that's even spread amongst our own fans has been deliberately put there by successive boardroom to quell any ambition whatsoever, and without Wilder arriving I have no doubt that these two small time morons would have sold us all the way down to League 2.

I've followed the Stir's tweeting of the court case reasonably closely as have many I am sure. Seems to me the current Wilder will leave thing stems from the unsubstantiated conjecture of McC's brief Downes which was slapped down as such by Justice Fancourt (Wilder hasn't been called as a witness by either side) Is the Judge's name a summary of Downes tactics ?

I am fairly sure the presence of a Stir reporter (I thought the woman they sent was by far the best of them) was probably noticed by McC's side and an opportunity to let the "newspaper" help their cause by doing the only thing it is good at ( stirring sensationally ) was seized upon even though it would have little direct bearing on the court case outcome. Seems to me there was no other value in Downes' court pronouncement.

I say "probably noticed" because this whole case seems characterised by a level of disingenuous ineptness on both sides which beggars belief and which, if true, makes one wonder how either of them became successful businessmen. On the back of this case I'm pretty sure, however great it would look on a shirt, Currie Motors won't want to be our shirt sponsor - "Nice people to do business with" etc.

Meanwhile we sit and wait whilst our Emperors fiddle while Rome burns. Can Sheffield United turn triumph into disaster once again?. Of course we can. Spartacus, humbug. We are Prometheus.
