Assombalonga and Freeman keep coming up they look moderate championship at best. Che Adams is fast, Assombalonga looks overweight. Freeman I can't see what the fuss is about, doesn't look a patch on Duffy I'd have Dowell before Freeman but even he needs to sharpen up for the Prem. I'm hoping for surprise packages.

I wish I looked overweight like assombalonga does in that case. Clearly muscle, and not that I'm disagreeing regards how average they looked last season but it's easy to look like that in a poor or average team.

Gk: Dean Henderson - Loan

Defenders: Phil Jagielka - Free, Kyle Naughton - Free, Dario Zuparic/ Mason Holgate £1.5m / Loan

Midfielders/Attacking Midfielders: Ollie Watkins £10-12m, Leroy Fer/ Mikel - Free, Luke Freeman/ Alex Pritchard £5-8m

Strikers: Oli Mcburnie £10-12m, Britt Assombalonga £5-8m

I suspect Everton might want more for Holgate.

This talk of a £20m budget has now started to worry me a bit.

So, what the hell can we do with that? I'll have a pop...

Dean Henderson - Loan
Simon Sluga - £1.5m
Yoann Barbet - Free
Mason Holgate - Loan
Leroy Fer - Free
Luca Connell - 500k
Luke Freeman - £4m
Kasey Palmer - £3m
Sam Gallagher - £4m
Jack Marriott - £7m

We'll have a good Championship team though.

Your making the assumption we will pay for all those up front. Transfer fees are usually paid in three installments with the second payment 12 months later as in the case of the Brooks transfer. The budget for new players for season 2019/20 will therefore be based on phased payments so you've probably got a lot left to spend in January based on the players you've bought above.

He can be trimmed down if need be. It would depend what his natural build is. Slimmer is not always better.
Tony Currie was slimmed down by Leeds and was never the same force he was at the Lane.
The fat lad from Sheffield and the fat boxer from Mexico have not found it a hinderance it seems.

Sam Gallagher £4m - that's what they pay us to take him off their hands , right ?

3 key signings at an average of 7m , two good loans and a couple of experienced frees will see us ruffle a few feathers and comfortably above bottom three IMO .

For what it's worth.

EDIT:

Henderson - yes
Dowell - yes
Assombalonga - no
McBurnie - yes
Maupay - don't think so
Hogan - maybe
Watkins - possible

I'm stunned that anyone believes that the best manager in England rings a Sun journalist and discusses all his transfer moves.

Yeah, he's pretty hit and miss--that's being generous. In fairness, though, I don't think he claims to have a direct line to the managers themselves--more likely he's picking up bits and pieces from friends or contacts who work at the clubs in question, agents, other journos. And then the rest is just made up, I'm sure.

The 2 key targets should absolutely be Oli McBurnie and Ollie Watkins both players have excellent resale profitability so they're the lowest risk in my eyes although they’ll be the biggest transfer fees

Please no for Dowell, I hate saying that when he played for us last season, but he didn't convince me in the Championship, nor did Hogan, and I think we need better to be honest. If we get McBurnie and Watkins up top though, we'll cause problems for opposition defenders for sure.

Let’s be patient with this, the best players are the most complex to sign. Most players are on there holidays and I’m sure we’ll arrange meetings as soon as possible with key targets

I believe he has ‘number ten’ in mind for Watkins.

I'm stunned you think that's how it would work. There are people other than Wilder who have insight into our transfer plans.

I am not gullible enough to believe that Alan Nixon has insight into seven different transfer targets.

But you're gullible enough to think that Nixon would only have insight into transfers by getting a call from Wilder...?

Lots of people talk. Most don't have the full picture. But they will have "insight" to an extent. Nixon will have a network of people who can provide insight into certain transfers by knowledge of clubs and/or players. Given his track record on us, I'd guess he doesn't have a great insight on the club's dealings directly. But he'll be able to piece things together from people with links (of various strength) to the player, the selling club, and others in the market who are keen and therefore hear stuff too.

So yeah, he probably won't get everything spot on. But it's mad to dismiss him by saying "stunned to think people believe Chris Wilder would tell a Sun journalist about his dealings". It's a dramatic simplification.

Fcuk me mate, why so touchy. It was a light-hearted comment.
You point out yourself he's got a sh1t record on us.
I'll leave it now, pal. Haven't you got any nursery kids you can lecture to?

Yeesh. Sorry mate, thought this was a forum for discussion. Didn't realise you had the intellect of a nursery kid.
