If Gibson is prepared to sue Derby because of FFP breaches I’d guess there are a few championship clubs that want to see their rivals punished for cheating and gaining an unfair advantage. If not, it just encourages others to do the same.

After QPR the rules were changed so that the PL would enforce beaches of FFP in the EDL, if it led to promotion. I’ve no idea if Villa will be punished or not but it’s starting to look like a few clubs that do stick to the rules are getting fed up of clubs breaching it and getting away with it.

Should be automatic relegation IMO, Brum's deduction last season made no difference, hit 'em where it hurts, in the pocket be relegating them.

The PL have made it clear that they won't recognise any EFL punishments that impact upon their own competition, which basically means no points deduction for anything Villa got up to in the Champ. Fines can be enforced however, because they know a few hundred thousand quid won't make a blind bit of difference when you have circa 200m coming in.

Plus the EFL have about as many teeth as Shane Macgowan, they can't do anything to Villa now that will have any real impact next season.

Something should be done, but it won’t be. It should be a 6 point deduction for any team that get into the Premier League by cheating financially. I don’t see how any team could complain. You’ve profited £170m minimum but it was done unlawfully so you start the season 6 points down.

The old Villa chairman basically came out and said the risk hadn’t paid off and they needed a fire sale to stay within the rules. They sold no one and brought in Abraham, maybe more ? How is it different to Birmingham ?

If the EPL don’t acknowledge the FFP rules then why have them ? I view the FFP rules as giving clubs 3 years to be reckless (or go for it) and only if they fail will they be in trouble.

A fine is more likely though, paid to the EFL, which will help absolutely no one, other than the EFL.
