Brooks’s wasn’t a regular for us but he is much more regular in the prem. It is a different game with more time. It might just be that CWAK feel he would be better suited to the prem.

I don't agree. It's much quicker up there. People used to say the same about Scougall and Reed, i.e. The Championship would suit them better, and it's just wasnt true.

Lundstram might improve, sure, but I don't think the idea that he'll be better up there stands up to much scrutiny on the basis of what we saw from him in the last 2 years.

Edit: The reason we finished 2nd is we put 4 championship quality players down the spine of the team. We need to add 2 possibly 3 QUALITY players to this team ready for August.

People talking about the opinion of the management.... Lundstram has started 5 games for us this season (3 of which we lost btw!). I’d say it’s fairly conclusive what the management think of him - not good enough! As has been proven over the last two years. Get rid, L1/low champ player and that is all.

The mystery of John Lundstram.We took a 'punt' on several lower league players last year hoping to unearth a gem on a limited budget in the hope some may adapt to the championship and help us to a top six finish.The plan wasn't a great success and eventually ended up with the majority of the players sold or loaned,although,i don't think this experiment cost the club an awful lot financially.The departures of Carruthers,Holmes,Evans (x2),Heneghan and Leonard was the correct decision,they were not good enough.However,after all the culling John Lundstram remained and yet he has hardly ever been included in the match day squad this season,it is very strange,is there a cunning plan,or is it that there has just been no interest ?

He has taken preference to Coutts in recent match day squads, but that could be due to the fact that he is one of the few midfield players we have, who offers a physical presence.

No one saying they trust Wilder/Knill is forcing anyone to comply.

The reason people say it is because they're probabaly unconvinced on the player(s) themselves but are happy to admit that a football proffesional who sees them train and knows them as a person is more likely to make the right call.

Often keep an eye on this forum for updates on the former Oxford lads. Speaking with Micky Lewis (Wilders old No 2 here at Oxford) we are trying to get Jake back and Lunny on loan. Barnsley / Wigan also after him apparently. Could be wrong Micky loves a beer as much as wilder does.

Not good enough for me and has had plenty of time to show otherwise can't pass, can't run and can't score regularly and is significantly worse ability wise compared to our starting midfielders as well Coutts.

I remember the excitement Wilder showed when he signed Lundstram who was the 22 year old captain of Oxford United who were a useful side and a good club.

His 3 year contract runs out summer next year.

Wilder has brought the lad on when he's been worried late in games. I think he sees him as a disciplined, strong player who has composure and leadership qualities.
It's possible that Wilder will offer the lad a new contract and find a way to develop him.

In the Prem., half the time there's more time in midfield and half the time there's a 'press' on. Lundstram will relish the extra space and he will not give the ball away easily when there is no space. He is a patient footballer and very strong; fairly good with defensive headers too.

If the lad is still on our books in 2 years time, he could be club captain some time in the future.

I have to say though that the player has not had the best times in the past two seasons. He's still very young ( by Wilder's standards).​

I think he is better suited for premiership. He’s big and strong likes a tackle and can pass it. There’s an unreal player in there.

I’m saying now he plays a fair few in championship and suprises everyone.
