When we go along to a Championship club with our cheque for £7/8m it'll be very hard for them to 'stand in the way' of their player when he has the chance to play in the Prem.

Also, such as Harry Wilson, Mount, Abraham, Dowell will be desperate to play in the Prem next season. Hope the Baggies win the play-offs!! Or do we fancy Gayle instead?

Any more affluent club fancying O'Connell or Fleck will know they would have to pay full value too. We are not the paupers any more.

We will not lose our empathy for other clubs' supporters but the tide has changed.

The image of our manager and the style of play will hold plenty of attraction to any player lucky enough to get the opportunity.

We might, but I'd be stunned if any one of those players went for less than £15-18m. I'd be equally stunned if we spend that on a single player to be honest.

(as it happens the only player on that list that I'd want us to sign in a dream world would be Abraham - not convinced the rest are good enough for the Prem)

I was thinking this morning that this is the first transfer window in forever where we've got full autonomy in relation to our decisions.

Why would an established player in the current set up want to leave, we have a fantastic team spirit and they know that they will play more for the blades in the premiership than with any other club.

We don't 'need' the money unless offers are daft.

We are known as a team that play attractive football, this will enamour players to us who've missed out on promotion but are good enough to make the step up (Maupay etc).

We FINALLY have a decent bit of money, which we can use to bully lower league teams (something we know all about), particularly those with FFP issues.

I'm really excited about pre season and wildest recruitment!!!

On reflection, basically what the OP said!!!

With Chelsea's transfer ban( if it stays in place) I would be amazed if they sold Abraham

True to a certain extent but everyone below probably Man City and Liverpool can lose their best players to the big hitters, it's just gone up several notches, just ask Southampton, Bournemouth etc etc
 
Might hold weight if players want to come but unless the club is in difficulty, the prices have now gone up from many sellers.

Not a chance, for our sort of cash anyway.

I meant on loan for him and his ilk. All those players need that season in the Prem, just like Henderson.

couldn't disagree more.. the big sides often win because in a game of small margins they often get the 50/50 calls because referees are human. the fact that 70k people are screaming for blood is a factor in their assessment.. 50/50's constantly going your way is like the dripping of water into a bucket. it will tell in the end. .

Add in the fact that the ref knows he's going to be back at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford Bridge etc next year but isn't sure if he's going to be at Selhurst Park, Turf Moor or Bramall Lane the following season.

The other thing is that there is a rule that a referee can't take charge at a match involving the club he supports.

Seventeen Premier League referees, and not one of them supports Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea or Manchester City. Taking into consideration that to be involved in football from boyhood to the extent that they must have been the idea that not one of them supports one of the big boys is a bit strange to say the least.

There is probably only O’Connell that could command an offer from a club higher up the food chain (Everton/West Ham/Leicester etc) that is tempting for both club and player alike.

The rest were only ever likely to be courted by lower end Premiership clubs after a (relative) bargain. That could all change in January though obviously.

It’s not a bad position to be in really. We are also in better shape in terms of hanging on to promising young players. Does anybody know what promotion means for the Academy? Do we automatically become Category 1 now?
 
No to become Category 1 we'd have to spend a lot on coaching and buildings to get to that stage.

I'm not sure the boot on the other foot stage is fully here after one year. After 2 where we have 'proved' we can cut it then top level championship players would really want to join

We will lord it over them like Billy Big Bollocks twats and make them eat shit.

They will hate us and then when we inevitably get releagated, they will warm the shit up for us and we will have to tuck in again.

It is the way of the football world and for once, NOT only in S2.....

Buying players in the15
to 20 million bracket would bust our wage structure it will go up massively but I don't beleave we will join the 60 thousand or above weekly wage level in our 1st year.
Players who cost 15 million plus want the wagers to match and I don't beleave we will push the boat out that far.

Very good post. I think we have an excellent opportunity to bring in quality championship players for hopefully decent money (ie not 20 mill for Maupay)

Wilder said that the loanees we’ve had have given us a real chance to look at them in depth and see their characters.

Of the Jan loanees, Dowell seemed to be a big part of the celebrations and loved his song. Madine certainly stepped Hogan seems quieter in the celebrations, not sure what this will all mean for wilder but I guess he wants a blend

I also seem to recall that someone had said (perhaps radio sheff) that all loanees had options to buy, but not sure if that was true

Yes, when it happens opposition fans will sing ' You're not Famous Anymore ' at us like some set did a few seasons back in the First Division. They thought it would wound us, but I think most of us were gobsmacked thinking to ourselves ' we used to be famous? When did that happen? '
