Few Tweets say he is, website however doesn't mention him.

Anybody?

No and contracted to June 2020 with (I think) a year option.

I’m pleased he’s hanging around. He’s an improver in my view. It’s perfectly clear Tufty sees something he likes. He looked fitter, stronger and livelier against Stoke. That’s just one game of course and I’m not saying he’s an immediate starter, far from it, but next season is a big one for a still relatively young lad.

I hate to say this, but I think he needs to prove quite a bit and to show he's up to it. I always fear he's got an error in him, a risk of switching off, of losing concentration or of failing to track his runner.

I hope he can prove his worth though.

Your first paragraph, of course, contains an accurate description of John Fleck for most of this season. Happily, he was much more his old self in the last couple of games.

I often wonder when people dismiss players as "not Premier League class" how much Premier League football they actually watch because for every De Bruyne and Fernandinho, there are 5 bang average midfielders and 2 utterly shit ones.

He'll have to work hard but I think most people would agree there's a player in John Lundstram which surfaces quite often, and if Wilder believes he can cut out the mistakes and work on his weaknesses then so do I.

We need to keep him his name sounds Scandinavian and gives the impression we have a non British player in the ranks. Already a few murmurs of the club being racist on some Prem banter pages because we only have UK players.

Definitely this. I feel like we had the same debate about Lundstram this season. It’s a squad game and occasionally you need a fifth-choice central midfielder to come on and run round a bit, make tackles, cover defensively etc. And who knows, maybe he’ll improve beyond that. But if he doesn’t, he doesn’t cost us anything more beyond what I assume is a modest wage, and at 25 retains plenty of resale value if it comes to it.

I suspect that won’t be the case when we kick off in August.

I think Wilder really likes him.
Solid utility player (although so was Cranie)and at 25 I think he's yet to reach his potential.
Agree he has time. But why would you say he is a utility player? He only plays one position, central midfield.

There is a cracking player in him somewhere. Prem quality,I doubt it but would love to be proved wrong.

You have to admit CW doesn’t take poor players well, they are usually transfer listed at the next window such as Lee Evans / loaned out like Heneghan or released like Hammond (wow how we have changed).

CW sees him everyday and rates him so it’s good enough for me.

He was excellent at Stoke.

He will be loaned out,to a Championship or League 1 team.

I could be wrong, but if Dowell is not good enough for Everton in the Prem, then i dont see Lundstram being good enough for us in the Prem.

Would Lundstram get into any other Prem teams squad,no.

No but he’s in ours. Would half of our players get into next seasons top 2 in the championship based on ability alone? I doubt it.

Whilst very true, Fleck had shown that he can be incredibly effective and influential well before his loss of form, Lundstram is yet to show that and yet to hold down a starting place. He's yet to cement what type of midfielder he wants to be, in fact.

Is it just me who thinks Lunny will drop deeper and become back up for our back 3, he is good at tackling and can run with the ball, and as our unique system requires some getting used to I think he could well be cover

Where ever a player plays in the team, he has to be influential.

If anyone on here wants to put hand on heart and say where Lunny can be influential in a Premier League 11 when he wasn't influential in a Championship team is a brave person.

CW/AK changed our L1 team early because it wasn't working and ditched various players.

Same last season in the Championship at the start of the season - we weren't effective - team changed.

No place for bloody sentiment - he isn't going to play a major part at all - in the same way that Washington and Johnson didn't last season.

The last time we went into the Prem, I think we played Tottenham away 2nd game - think we lost 2 nil - Garth Crooks used the phrase NGE about NW's team, Not Good Enough is what it stands for and Crooks was ultimately proved correct.

We need to make sure we have a team that is good enough this season so we don't drop straight back down again which means bringing in better players who can have an influence.

There's a realistic limit as to how many players a club can ditch at anyone time - we're already getting rid of a bucket load.

If we are winning a game next season with 5/10 minutes to go, we might see Lunny come on - or perhaps you may want to see John Obi Mikel come on instead or Leroy Fer.

Come on - we NEED better players to progress.

He is 25 coming to the peak time in a footballers career,we will have to wait and see if he is named in the Prem squad if he is kept on,could still beloaned out or he will be a starter in the Carabou Cup group games (if its still on next season)
