It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. Our income will be circa £120m and if we’re prudent our wage bill will be at a level we can cover with the parachute payments, which will be around £40m. It’s quite possible that we’ll spend £50m on transfers fees over the two windows.

I’d suggest it’s far more likely than spending it on a new kop, particularly when a good championship player will cost more than £10m, as most do these days.

I expect Wilder to be given the opportunity to spend £50m, I don’t demand that he does, there’s a difference. If he spends £10m and says hand on heart he’s confident we’ll stay up and didn’t want to spend more, I’ll be happy.
 
We should try and give Wilder whatever he believes will be the funds needed to be competitive. He won't gamble the future of the club so if he stays he needs £xxxx then let's make that amount available.
It's so vital that we stop up in our first season as I believe we can really kick on from season 2 once we are established.

Don’t forget he’s very keen to improve the training facilities. I’m pretty sure he means more than fans turning up with paint brushes...

I’m allowing £30m for running costs and improvements. It’s a sensible investment and one that I’d like to see made.

I think the academy will also have to wait for 2-3 years in the PL.
 
Why did we build the training facilities at Shirecliffe? Closer to the sty than the Lane and not far from the pig’s Parson Cross “stronghold”.

Possibly for that exact reason! No, I guess it was just where the opportunity arose, but I do think that it's actually a bonus to have a presence in traditional Wednesday territory..

I remember playing there and I think they were originally pitches and facilities owned by Forgemasters which came up for sale. They were great pitches, well maintained and with changing rooms, baths and a bar. I think they were bought because it was an opportunity too good to miss for "city centre" facilities at the time.
 
Never mind Parson Cross , Southey Green & Shirecliffe are themselves traditional piggeries. But what swung the deal was the high-altitude location , with memories of Mexico City in 1970 very hard to erase. If tha' can train up on 'Cliffe , tha' waint suffer altitude sickness at West Brom !

Not easy to find an available field in Sheffield that hasn't got too many contours. Having played cricket in the Sheffield local leagues for nearly 20 years it is a rarity having played on a flat cricket field.
