Brought tears to my eyes towards the end.

Every club needs a Chris Wilder in charge.

What a legend and many fans wanted him out at once.

This fucker has been sat in my airing cupboard for 12 years haha

Oh my god. Hahahaha. Lost that T-shirt a long time ago, but that didn't stop it haunting my mind's eye during some of the shite we've witnessed from the kop since '07... it was the sheer hubris of it I think.

But guess we had to tumble in the years to come after, instead of bounce back up, to get back up so strong. And there is literally no other manager in the world, and no other way of us doing this, that could top the last three seasons.

Everyone goes on about how he saved us from the League One years, but the way he's brought the soul back into this club goes back a lot further than that. For too many years we were trying to do it the exact same way as all these boring clubs from unremarkable motorway corridor towns. Big contracts, foreign players, journeyman managers, the lot. We had to go down that path to realise that's never gonna be the Blades way - that's not the kind of club we are, that's not the kind of city we're from. Sheffield United's too exceptional for that to work; we've always had our own identity, our own culture, it's what we're about, not the glory or the big-names or any of that crap.

Yes, the last decade was soul-crushing at times, but it was all worth it in the end because that's how we found Wilder.

And no wonder it took a local lad and a local captain. Sheffield United is Sheffield - the buggering on, the never-counting-your-chickens, the hard shifts, the underdog spirit, the backs-to-the-wall, the good times, the no-nonsense but brilliantly humoured outlook on life of a special industrial city that has been through its ups and downs, but still knows its roots. Wouldn't, couldn't have it any other way.

He’s doing it the right way, he’s said all season won’t comment on what other players at other clubs say about us, knowing full well it was all to play for.

And now he’s free to say exactly what he feels and wants to say because the job is done and anything he says now is backed up by what he’s accomplished on the pitch.

The man is a hero

Exactly, he's as straight talking but as professional as they come. He'll be a breath of fresh air in the top flight next season.

He does like an Italian beer

He'll be the face of Moretti and Peroni next year, when we're a bit more fashionable.

The greatest football interview Bert has ever, ever seen.

In a sanitised, media-trained, modern football age, that interview was absolute quality. I demand SKY insist on 4 beers minimum prior to every interview.

Leeds fans apparently outraged, but I think this was more a reaction to his perception that we weren’t getting the recognition we deserved, and the assumption was we’d bottle it. Well “Bang, have that”.

can’t see why Leeds fans would be upset they were saying the same thing about Bamford last month :)

We need to get rid of Chris now we’re going up. He’s taken us as far as he can. Get David Moyes in or big Sam. It’s the only way

Fantastic interview by a fantastic manager. His passion for the club clearly comes through and I for one hope he is a Blade for a long time.

UTB.

Sadly, that interview won’t be seen by as many football-people as I’m sure would appreciate it.
It’s our club’s manager giving an up-beat, honest, realistic, funny, provocative, complimentary, pashunate & human assessment of what him, his team, the club & the supporters have achieved.

Thanks fook not many football-people will see it!!!!! They’d all want him in charge, if they didn’t already!!!

But they can’t have him.
Christie Wilder - he’s one of our own!!

Pashun.

All very admirable.

But the fact he has assembled an excellent squad of players, on a limited Championship budget, makes all the Pashun in the world somewhat playing 2nd fiddle.

We have a squad of multi million pound footballers. It was amazing to see that in the push for the PL, the depth of the squad, not least of which was the quality and strength of player we had available from the bench, was easily the best in the division. That is not a coincidence. It’s excellent management.

So Chris, Alan et al. Please don’t play down this achievement. Pashun has a part to play.

But being good at the job is rather important too !!!

Allez les Reds :).
