It's easy to think that the last time we were in the Premier League wasnt that long ago but the more talented mathematicians among you will know it's been 12 or so years since.

That means, the majority of our fans in their teens and 20's haven't seen us play in the Premiership at legal drinking age. IF we beat Ipswich and go up I think this will bode well for us in our first season, the excitement this younger lot must be feeling reminds me of how I was feeling mid-00's but this time after even longer away from the top flight.

Having been involved with kids football from the early 00's for about 7/8 years the City started to go RED from then.

There used to be more kids with pig shirts on than Blades in the 90's - from 00's it started to change. A lot of the very young kids started following the Blades - this has probably worked through with our attendances today.

Getting back up and hopefully staying up can once again have a dramatic effect on the younger generation of 5,6,7,8 year olds coming into junior football.

We want to go up and stay up for numerous reasons - this one above is just as important as it brings a new generation of young fans AND some parents into the club.

My memories of the PL are it’s a totally different ball game to the Championship.

The city will become vibrant with a buzz.
Away end sold out for almost every match.
Incredible ticket demand for the bigger matches where we could easily get 40K gates.
Also (believe or not) loads of media coverage.
Basically the club will be back on the map.

Agree with Fulwood above, there are a army of young kids that will be deciding whether to support the Blades or the Owls, if we beat Ipswich there will be a knock of effect regards building up our fan base even more.

Think this one will be phenomenal - it's moved on oodles since we were last in this division with the far east and so I am told America being big markets.

Not convinced some of our fans are ready (hopefully) for how big it could get.

I hope McCabe and Prince recognise the importance of Y2 as against just Y1 in the Prem, and that we invest for the future.

Promotion's easy, I've seen six.

Interesting that our last promotion to the Prem involved us playing, then another lot (Reading) playing at Leeds a bit later, and getting a result which promoted us.

Remember a few Reading fans stopped off at BL to celebrate after with us. Should we get the beers in ready for the Villa fans ?

Just shows how long it's been. The last time we were in the premier league I was a 17 year old lad. I was in the middle of AS levels thinking of applying to uni. Since then I've: Moved to Scotland, started uni, graduated, got a job, moved city 3 times, moved house 7 times, moved back to Sheffield, got married, bought a house and had a kid. Safe to say people our age feel like they've been waiting a very long time for this!

Mind expanding a bit on that? Not challenging your opinion, just curious! I have some amazing memories from 06/07, just that they're retroactively tainted by how it ended.

I can sort of see where you're coming from in 05/06 in that Reading ran away with the league and we DID stumble a bit after a brilliant start (lost four in a row I think? Those Coventry and Norwich defeats properly burned) but we still got 92 points which will probably be enough to win the league this year, and finished 11 ahead of 3rd.

I’m definitely one of the babies here, 23 so my memories of our last time in the prem was me going round playground at school every break and trading every good player I had just for a full set of Sheff Utd Shoot Out cards

I’ve experienced a lot of playoff heartbreak in my short time, so aye the last few years have been something special, never felt as much anticipation for a game as I do for tomorrow

Yes it's been a while, things have moved on. Still, spare a thought for them across the city. If they go up next season it will be the 20/21 season before they take part in the Premier again. Which means some of them will have been born, left school, learnt to drive, left home and had kids of their own all without seeing Premier Division football at Hillsborough.

Not only that but they've had to witness the pub team from the heart of the city overtake them in everything but delusional beliefs.
You could almost feel sorry for them, almost.

I wasn't the legal drinking age the last time we were promoted, but that didn't really perturb me necking pints in the Old Crown for the Leeds - Reading game and doing the conga down to the ground with some distinguished members of this forum.
