Peter King scored for Cardiff and then Woody equalised from a 30 yard free kick. A report in the Daily Express said the equaliser was a "Banana" shot. I asked my dad what a "banana shot" was. We dont use that term nowadays

Thanks for reminding me, it was a long time ago, I was in the area doing my RAF training. but I remember trying not to celebrate when we equalised, as I sat amongst the Cardiff fans all alone

Stuart Scullion hit the bar for Watford when it was 0-0. Went onto win 3-0. Signed Scullion in the close season. Good player for us. Class of 71 will take some beating. Class of 19 best team since then. Can I believe it's 48 years ago!

I was at college the day we played Cardiff in the evening, I couldn't concentrate so had the afternoon off.

The Cardiff match was just an amazing experience, I remember it like it was yesterday. The Watford match, whilst important ended up a celebration. Absolutely brilliant week.

we beat Peterborough 4-0 at home in 1982 to clinch promotion in front of 24,000--the pitch was surrounded most of second half with fans ready to run on.

We won the Championship at Darlington the week after

I was at both Cardiff and watford games,my first full season going to the lane. We just blew Cardiff away with some brilliant football and then finished the job on the saturday against Watford. There was over 40,000 at both games,we were spoiled with that team,little did i know the many heartaches to come in the following 48yrs. Thank you Mr Chris Wilder for giving us in my humble opinion the best team since then in terms of quality football combined with great workrate and spirit.
