This is what us council workers used to get by rights. I'm pissed off and cynical that we don't get this anymore. I had an extra day off to meet some old mates in a pub in Barnsley. Before this I was in a long queue renewing esteemed Forgeblade's and my season ticket. I've had a great Easter weekend, and currently have beer glasses on. I get the caution. I get the cynicism. I get the "we've been there before, we'll fuck it up". I'm confident we won't. I wasn't, but I am now.
I think by Saturday, 7.15pm, we'll be in the Premier League. It may quickly feel shit, and I'm not the greatest fan of that League, but it will feel awesome at the time, and we need to anticipate that and remember it. Don't do the "Ipswich, may be bottom, but got a point against whoever" shit. Do the "jeez, we're there" shit, as we surely will be. UTB!!!!!!

I'm not sure either! I think it's about football both screwing you up and sorting out your head. Had to take an extra days leave to get what what was a "right", but the subsequent beer head helping me anticipate what I feel will be an amazing weekend to come!!!! UTB!!!!

If it helps I’m off for the next 3 weeks

Hmmmm, Dog Lane after dark on a bank holiday, easy pickings for the man with no standards;)

I remember having Easter Tuesday's off, and going to the Lane sometimes for a night match. But, I also remember having to work on a Good Friday's. In Sheffield (and the north in general), when I moved darn sarf (1974) it surprised me that southerners had Good Friday off and went back to work on the Tuesday. The north followed suit eventually.

Yes I remember working for some companies that had Mon Tues off instead of Fri Mon. Why is it always the bloody south that gets its own way?

I used to get a half day off on Maunday Thursday. Civil servants always had it better than council workers.

It's the modern way. Easter round here used to mean a 3 day break. Watch tv current affairs programmes and check out the huge numbers of northern accents. BBC moved it's news output lock, stock and barrel to Salford, but with the odd exception (Dan Walker) it moved it's southern staff and attitudes with it. Check out the huge numbers of northern folk on the government and opposition front benches. Check out how national weather forecasts weirdly go from Scotland to southern England without mentioning owt in between. Chip, yes. Shoulder, yes. Justified? Too fucking right!!!!!

Any consolation, it's a long time ago. Try life completely without council workers. You may find it more challenging than you think.
Won’t make much difference to the litter on our road after every fucking bin collection. The ecoscruffs would go berserk at the amount of shit blowing about and contaminating the environment. 95% in the bin wagon, 5% launched to the winds.

I remember the days when teams played on Easter Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. I'm pretty sure we played Leeds twice in two days around 1972 .
Players these don't know they're born!

We can't be promoted until Sunday EARLIEST
