I've been critical of McGoldrick from time to time, mainly for shooting from out wide when someone was better placed, but he's arguably our most important player right now on his current form, certainly the most important forward. What a signing he's been. Cast your minds back to August and we were all desperate for a big signing up top, it was what many of us wanted as a priority. We then signed McGoldrick on a free from Ipswich and I don't think any of us were over the moon with it, but fair play to him and Wilder, he's been vital this season and is rightly a fans favourite.

Vey different player, but the signing slightly reminds me when we signed the Chief and I recall he got booed onto the pitch when he made his debut as a sub v Walsall! He was a huge favourite too and Didsy is certainly one of the best freebies we've had in the 2000s..

Simply based on time served so far I would say Duffy is our best ever free transfer, certainly from what I can recall in my time watching United.

Over 3 seasons now he has consistently been the player I most enjoy watching when he is at his best. That goal yesterday felt as good as The Bounce Slayer when it went in.

An accurate appraisal of Mark Duffy and succinctly put. As for his goal yesterday, in the top echelon of any, anywhere in the world. Added to that the time it was scored is priceless to Sheffield United FC and there present ambitions.
Further to Mark Duffy, I believe he has future ambitions of coaching and even management in football. United could and should recruit this ability and enthusiasm to add to what CW&AK are doing at The Lane.
