Not a negative post just an observation and interested in others views.
It was obvious that Wilder had told the lads especially Hendo to go route 1 to Madine today as a go to plan rather than play out from the back.
I think Madine offers us a lot and don't like him used in that way so much.
He's perfect for our overlapping and crossing as he's such a presence and unsettles defenders and wins flick ons. He also knows where the goal is.He's a clever player with plenty in his locker and I'd love us to use him in a more varied way. Think it would pay dividends.

1st half we were direct and I thought pretty ineffective. Madine and McG didn’t work and Duffy was a passenger.

I didn’t see the second half as I lost the stream on the flight so can’t comment.

I thought madine and hogan would’ve been better in that set up

Did we play to feet better second half?

One thing I would say is that madine allows us that direct option

I was disappointed with the number of headers / flick-ons Madine was winning. Seemed to be well marshalled by their defence.

I thought second half he seemed to be carrying a knock.

Who cares as long as we win. Performances mean fuck all at this point

Guess so.
We should just grunt and post "Fuckin A innit"
Discussing football is a fucking daft idea on a football forum after all.

Agree, it’s not accurate to say Madine is better or worse than our other strikers, it’s more about Madine offering something we didn’t have before. He’s very different to our other strikers.

Against Boro we were struggling, Madine come on at half time we he transformed us to help us win. Today Madine was average with Duffy really struggling first half, Madine goes off and we play a much better passing game with Duffy also looking much better. Today we seemed to be better without Madine but he’s still been a success and is a fantastic option off the bench.

Perhaps the changes to the back line meant we weren’t inclined to play our usual way. Plus I suspect we have defined a certain playing style for Madine, with players taking up different positions and the shape of the side being different out of possession.

To be fair I think he offers more than being a lump of a target. I prefer shorted passes into him, I think he has more success in those instances than longer balls up to him.

As I said, at this point in the season yes it is. Win at all costs.

Exactly how does a discussion about how a player is used in our system conflict with the importance of winning the game.

Playing long would work if we had someone playing alongside him. McGoldrick was 10 yards too deep hence a number of good knock downs and flick ons went to waste. Took the long route too often by passing the midfield making it easy for Florist to drop deep and defend. Sharp or Hogan are better alongside Madine. Noticeable when he went off we began to play with more of a tempo. He's a good option but there was a startling lack of pace up top today.

I've said it no end of times, we have been a team who have used lots of width for the last three seasons, putting in numerous crosses that nobody got their head on
We bring in the big man and stop getting into wide positions and crossing, we instead hoof the ball up the field to the big man. Did it with Hanson as well.

If we're going to use a player like Madine then let him fit in with our style rather than trying to create a different style because of him

we certainly didn’t win as many headers when he went off, in fact I don’t think we won one.

We're you there today. It would appear not.

In the words of the Virgin Mary: fuck off you utter bell end. If you want to play a game of 'show us your ticket stubs' I'm up for that.

Either way, anyone who looked at that game today and thought Madine was anything other than our most pivotal player, was either still in bed or watching another game.

Pivotal ?

Explain, with as much specific detail as you can be arsed with.

Happily...

As Duffy and McGoldrick couldn't hold the ball up for toffee, the only attacking outlet we had for most of the game was firing the ball into Madine and hoping he was able to either hold it up or flick it on.

Without the him doing so, I fear what kind of output or lack of, we'd have had.

It was noticeable after he was replaced by Hogan that we ceded both possession and territorial advantage to a poor team with 10 men...

It's not a knock it's an attitude.

My point was that he has a lot in his locker and we waste all that by just going long as we largely did today. I felt he still had a very good game as his standing ovation when coming off confirmed.

Either you have totally misunderstood my op or I your pretty rude reply.
Either way calling someone a fucking Bell end in your second go is out of order on any level and I'd be happy to explain that in person whilst disposing of your ticket stub where the sun seldom shines.
Have a lovely evening.
