What a win today Priceless. And a great day out with the family String.

But Hogan. I'm not sure what he did today. He didn't win a single header as far as I can tell, he wasn't quick enough and didn't press. I know we're without Sharp so have limited options, but really, what did he bring?

Anybody?

That’s not his game winning headers, he needs through balls or balls into the channels.

We haven’t had a player up top with pace for so long we’ve forgotten how to do that though.

His movement was exceptional on several occasions but we didn’t attempt the ball and slowed the play or played it back.
I thought he's really is wasted if we aren’t going to look to break quickly or play him in and risk turning the ball over. However he did create a lot of space with his runs which gave others the room to work.
It’s a shame this isn’t noted or appreciated but if we aren’t going to try and sit back against Hull he’d work well giving Fleck/Duffy/Dids the space to drive into.
Madine starting just seems to make us go direct too early and too often.

We just don't play to his strengths. We always look to go wide rather than thread through balls in behind

It baffles me how hard people try and find something to moan about.

Norwood was awful aswell as he didn’t score that shot from 40yds out gi it a rest

Lost count of how many times he span in behind and no ball came to him. Got to play to his strengths and high balls aren’t it

100% I don't think he has the game for our style of play, but correct his movement was brilliant and worth of at least one pass.

Glad lots of others noticed his great off the ball runs screaming for a ball on the deck to put him through but he was ignored every time.
Think it took a while for the players to realise Madine had gone off so they couldn't lump it anymore.

Anyone think of owt else to moan about on this fantastic day?

It was indeed a fantastic day, and no, I'm not trying hard to moan. I'm very far from being a knocker.

But is it conceivable that amongst a great day there was a performance which underwhelmed (for whatever reason)? I think it is.

Hogan isn’t a limited option... just can’t drop McG and Madine is power.

From what I saw of the first half we were lumping it forward and bypassing Duffy completely. I’d have rather had McG in behind hogan and madine.

Hogan looks and sounds like he needs to play off a striker, like billy and ched did earlier in their careers.

Billy is a very different player now and he has been so successful by being adaptable.

I’d love to see hogan start alongside madine at hull with dowell or McG in behind or use McG off the bench

That player was Norwood. Slow. Never ran forward with the ball. Got in the way of the CB s who are quite able to play a 5 yard square pass without him getting in the way.

Biggest problem Hogan had was once he made his run and didn’t get the pass he then stood five yards offside still calling for the ball.

I thought he chased and pressed fairly well, but overall it just doesn’t seem to be working out for him.

Wrong.

Hogan would actually be better up top on his own with two tens in behind capable of seeing the multitude of off the shoulder runs just begging for a dink through ball.

UTB

Dunno. Got so drunk last night I went blind. Couldnt watch the game. :(

Hogan made loads of runs and several times Norwood had the option of playing him through but chose not too.

Agree with this entirely. He was making runs but the balls weren't coming. Like some else said, his style is one we haven't had in a while so it feels like the team just arent speaking his language at the mo.

He's ridiculously fast. So many times he was level with the last defenders, waiting for a nicely weighted through ball to race on to. I guess the team aren't used to him being there yet. Hopefully we can capitalise on his speed and positioning in the next games.

We simply don't suit him. We're programmed to take a considered approach and go wide, which wastes any opportunities to get him in positions where he's at his best.

I would say in The right team he would score a hatful..with our "ignore the front players runs" he's got no chance .may be t oo good for us

Yes sadly not good enough, when Madin went off for Hogan we struggled to hold the ball up front, like you say didn’t win one ball and contributed nothing? We must have a better option somewhere at the club surely?? Hogan is League One, probably League Two standard

Is he this season's Ricky Holmes??
