Blades Melt down & Pressure Released

Have we all done now then? Anymore meltdowns left to come today, tomorrow or this week?

Lets get it all out...

Some went really early after the 3-3 with Villa
We had a light dusting after losing against Bristol City at home...

But we've had a huge one now. A draw with a side battling against relegation, following a draw with Birmingham, themselves close to the bottom 3 had they not picked up 4 points against us and Leeds.

Is it a coincidence that Reading, Millwall, Rotherham, QPR and now Wigan have all picked up points when they're down amongst it fighting for their lives?

I had the following predictions this weekend
Blades 1-0 win
Leeds 1-1 draw
Norwich 0-3 win

All three wrong....

But, the point now though is that we've perhaps released the pressure on ourselves, we're 3 points off Leeds, still 7 off Norwich with 12 points to play for, Leeds play Wigan on Friday... I can't predict that, but i had Leeds down for a big win....

Villa did give everybody the warning shot, hence the post villa form

Now of course we all want our beloved team to win every game and do everything right all the time. This is football. All teams blip now and again, for whatever reason. This is our club and we live supporting them through thick and thin. Of course we get disappointed when we lose but we love and support them regardless. We’ve had an incredible time under Wilder and have had a great season where we stand proud to be blades. This season isn’t over yet and there is every possibility that we can go second again. Wilder knows and said in his post match chat that we cant sit back and I’m sure that will be drilled this week. If we beat the scabs and leeds fail then we’re back in it. Keep believing blades and if the worst should happen and we go to play offs then its still a great achievement. UTB

Is everyone missing the point deliberately ?
If we are going to "fuck this up"* we've gone way too early. Surely the correct path for Utd would be to get our noses in front of Leeds, go into the Stoke game 3 points clear and then, and only then make a complete dogs dinner of it.

*I'll be as disappointed as anyone if we don't manage to go up this season but immensely proud of what our team has achieved. Four games to go and still in with a shot at top two (yes, I agree our form must improve)..... I wouldn't have put any money on it at the beginning of August.

that my feeling i thought we were excellent for 55 mins. but its the performance not the result that annoys. its the 30mins before hand where we could all see this car crash coming as we decided to defend deep for no reason. considering we've done that in our last 2 home games whats to say history wont repeat for a 3rd time on good Friday when we take the lead

Under that pressure, exactly that happened. That fear is now realised and the pressure should now be released.

Its something that didn't happen in League one as Wilder didn't allow it. He didn't allow it by himself being positive and giving it a right good go.

Before Wilder there was a real mentality in the club that promotion was sufficient and it didn't matter how we did it. Adkins, Clough, Wilson.... and those before all adopted a similar mindset and it always came across in the media. There was a fear of being shot at if you stuck your head up and said "we going to try and win the league"

Naturally, if you set yourself up for "Top Two" then you'll probably finish third...

However, what Wilder did in League one (i talked about this at the time) was refreshing. He changed the mentality and he was always looking at the top slot, we were giving it a right good go.

I think just recently, things have just got real and we've all focused on chasing down Leeds or holding them off. What we probably should've done was look to 2nd when we were 3rd and then as soon as we got to 2nd, focused on chasing down Norwich.

Even now i have my predictor looking at Norwich, not Leeds. That's where Wilder should be looking, chase them down and don't worry about Leeds.

I think most teams set up to frustrate us and get 10 men behind the ball, when we break them down and score they then have to come out and try to score. That's when they realise how easy it is to get at us and push us back until they inevitably score, if the opposition had less respect for us and had a go at us from the off then they would have more success. I don't think we drop back to defend once we score it's the mindset of the opposistion that changes and they find out how easy it is to run through our midfield and get at our defence.

Yeah right. The team gets 1-0 up in an absolutely vital game and stops playing because of lack of bottle and it's me who's defeatist because I actually say it.
They've changed their attitude to games, simple as that, even a blind man can see it, and it's been going on for several weeks. If you refuse to see it well good luck to you. But I'm not the defeatist one and neither are other fans just because they can see it.
