Amidst all the doom and gloom has anybody noticed that Didsy has just played the most outstanding 2 games of his Blades career.

Watching him at St Andrews and this afternoon it’s unbelievable that this is game 42 and the guy with an injury-prone reputation.

He was everywhere at Birmingham and again today - has anybody got his distance stats?

I’m pretty sure I saw him in front in the Grand National at one point.
 



He was absolutely sublime today. Honestly, what a baller that lad is.

Anyone else think he looks better in midfield than he does upfront too? The Millwall lads couldn't get near him at times.

He is a completely different player to Duffy, but his ball retention and close control is equally as good, and the way he was driving forward today was a joy to watch.
 
I said to my Dad after the mid-week game, McGoldrick is always the almost unanimous MOTM pick when the team has been shit, like Basham used to be.

Is it because he's able to keep his performance up when others can't? Or because, while good, he just hasn't got that bit extra to pick up the win?

Anyway, poor bloke, Didsy being MOTM bodes ill.

Yes, he was bossing the game first 15 of the second half, then we needlessly pushed him up top, where he was good, but we lost his creativity from midfield.

Then we took Duffy off and lost all creativity in midfield...
 
As soon as he gets the ball I relax as I know he will be able to a/keep it and b/do something decent with it. He was superb today.
 
He's been an excellent free signing for us but sadly today his failure to make a simple square pass to put us 2-0 up was school boyish and costly.
 
He takes Duffys shirt for me, he is a sublime footballer that is better playing deeper. Hogan also needs to come in.
 
Like as been said above, he was absolutely running the show the first 15-20 mins of the second half playing in midfield and then Wilder stupidly made the sub and pushed him up front which resulted in us losing the midfield battle for the rest of the game. Baffling substitution.

I indeed referred to him as Davey Shegoldringham earlier today. Can't think of a better player of his kind that we've had but there aren't that many you can compare his role to.
 
DG's first touch and control is sublime. Superb player. What a ball through to Fleck - looks even better on the replays.

True. He does have his weaknesses, sometimes, as yesterday, has a go himself, when a player is better placed or those flicky things he does which look terrible when they dont come off, but he is a joy to watch, and what an engine !

I want to see that again. I was on the BLUT so couldn't see how good an opportunity it was. They haven't shown it on any of the highlights I've seen so far.

I agree with all the comments about how skilful he is etc but the equaliser was his fault . A few minutes before the goal the ball came to him just outside our area and he lost it putting us under pressure . He did exactly the same for the goal , the cross was cleared out to him and instead of learning from the previous time he did exactly the same and lost it again , cue the crosses leading to the goal !! If only he’d learned...

Hardly, he cleared it 60 yards and was fouled in the process, had the ref done his job in that incident, we win.

He cleared it and then was completely wiped out. All under the nose of the referee and the spineless twat waved play on.

Fortunately we all pay 400 and odd quid for a season ticket so we can come and watch the referee so it’s all fine.

Couldn't agree more. Didn't see yesterday's game but I was at St Andrews and thought there were 3 of him on the pitch at times. He played every position 'cept keeper that day.
 
Maybe I am mistaken but that’s what it felt like at the time !! I much prefer him as an attacking midfielder as his link up play and skills are quality , when he is a striker coming back as deep as he does to pick the ball up often leaves Sharp isolated . Very good player and a very good signing none the less !! As ever UTB

Actually, he did it twice in quick succession, ignoring the adage about doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. He was never going to score from that angle, barring a keeper calamity.

That’s a bit churlish though as he is a fantastically skilled player and if he didn’t have shortcomings, we wouldn’t have got him on a free from Ipswich.

Think he’s our best player just need to get him on the ball as much as possible get him in the Duffy position for me

i don’t think he is as effective with back to goal which is why i was utterly perplexed when Chris brought Cranie on and not Hogan

He's certainly up there. Keeping him fit is key now if we are to stand a chance.

I would question the remark about his first touch..... I think he has been one of Wilder's best signings and should be one of the first names on the team sheet, but there are times when his first touch is atrocious from someone of his ability. It often bounces off him making him chase and stretch to get it under control.
 



Whilst I'm not saying he is nearly as good but he is our Dennis Bergkamp, he made arsenal tick and was so clever
