Fleck

wow did you have this ready to post as the whistle went

whatever division we’re in next season, this is one position we need to improve on. We have no competition for fleck and Norwood whatsoever

Very poor today, kept losing the ball, rarely went forward and his balls into the box were awful. Not been his usual self for a while now. Premier League material?

I agree. Had an off day. His final ball was poor.

Norwood was marginally better.

Duffy seemed to hold onto the ball a plot second too long too.

One of those nights.

I think Fleck's form has come back recently, but not tonight

Too many poor crosses and a lack of endeavour has meant a very, very average performance tonight. Shame because whilst Brum are dogged, they are are also very beatable

I am now in the unprecedented position of watching the Blades Satdi, followed by cheering the pigs on at tea time.

Had an off day, but the lad had to stay very disciplined today and other aspects of his game, i.e positioning, was very good.

I was watching his positional play closely as well and he wasnt finding the pockets of space in midfield which were available.

It made it really hard for us to play out of defence as he was walking around in a lazy fashion not attempting to find the space. He was also poor on the ball the few times he had it.

For me, his worst performance ive seen him play in.

He’s been poor for most of the season not just today, even tho his poor is still good

Thought his positioning was very poor myself. Drifted around not finding any space when there was often space nearby.

He's been good recently, shit tonight though.
I'd give our MOTM to Egan or McGoldrick but it was a below par performance.

Fuck me... then passed to Stevens  Perhaps you had your dark glasses on.

Show me the other bits where he didn't lose the ball.

The midfield was poor tonight. We had the possession yes but until Didsy dropped back we had no penetration or creativity.

Duffy did play the the ball to Stevens granted, but Stevens had a lot to do still. I don't class that as an assist as such, a cross or defence splitting through ball is an assist. Maybe I'm old school.

Fleck hasn't had a great season and the midfield has been poor lately. Goldy is the best midfielder we have right now. Give Fleck a rocket and tell him to drive forward ala league 1, drop Duffy for Goldy and consider Coutts (legends always come good)

Thought he played an indirect but important part in the goal. Stevens and fleck switching position dragged Birmingham around, creating the space.

Overall not a great performance but I’m sure he will be back on form come Saturday!

Our entire midfield was donk tonight, don't know how anyone can really argue with that assessment.

Still decent, but compared to their usual form, donk.

The Duffy/Dowell situation is more worrying than Fleck for me. They seem to both be getting poorer rather than pushing each other on, admittedly Dowell playing out of position doesn't help but even in the Duffy role he rarely starts well, usually needs a half to get into it, and Duffy isn't affecting things as he should in that role.

Fleck has too many off days, I'm blaming going away with the Scottish national team for tonight haha

Norwood probably knows he is our "quality" and I think the pressure of that really gets at him if he's not got his eye in (though he shouldn't shoulder all the responsibility), when he tries to force it it introduces a bit of sloppiness.

Still, it's a point, and a point on Leeds. Out of our hands again though.

Leave any stealth Norwood bashing. He’s been integral to everything we have done.

I think Duffy is off in the summer, even if we don't go up.

His Mrs has been outspoken on twitter all season and when he came off he just walked straight passed Wilder without shaking hands or saying a word. Wouldn't be surprised if they've had a falling out. Maybe Duffy is just one of those players who sulks if he doesn't play.

Then on Dowell. Commentator said that Dowell has SAID that he often questions Wilder when he puts him at LWB as if to say why am I here... Has anybody heard this quote or was it just nonsense from commentators trying to fill the seconds with words??

On Dowell probably just misquotes from the Comms. I imagine the full quote would be like "yeah, I sometimes wonder why I'm playing there instead of the 10 but the gaffer needs me there sometimes and I'm happy to do it for the team.” doubt it's an issue.

Duffy it's one of those situations that doesn't really have an answer, Duff wants to play at his age, doesn't, isn't happy, then gets his chance and doesn't always take it so it just rumbles on.

That is singularly the most ignorant comment I've ever read on here. One position? We've signed Norwood in midfield, Egan in defence and Madine up front. I'd say, by a long fucking way, that the position we need to 'improve on' is up front. Madine? A chained mule would've moved more freely up front!. As for Wilder: he made two very poor substitutions from a bench bought from Aldi.

Yes of course he has. It’s a miracle we’ve managed to stay in contention for an automatic spot considering how the other ten players have carried him all season
I know today he wasn’t at his best and I know we all have different opinions but some people post some right shite at times

I think Fleck needs to be involved regularly in a game to get to his best level. The more he's involved, the better he gets. I also think he plays better with more responsibility. There's a big difference between Fleck now and this time last season. He was driving us forward on his own a year ago. Maybe he's a bit too comfortable in his current role.

A lot of the time last night Fleck was by-passed as we went long an awful lot. Start if first half, end of second we got it down and he was involved and looked good (crossing aside) but when we go from back to front he just has to hold position, plus for much of the game he offered more support to Crainie than he would do to JOC. Agree it was far from his best performance but he played an important role for the team last night, an unselfish one, and his movement opened it up for the goal.

Not only Fleck, Duffy has been very poor last 2 games.

His pairing with Norwood, IMHO, is not optimal.

Norwoods performance levels have also dropped off a cliff in the last 2 months.

So easy for other sides to press Norwood or do a man to man job on him which visibly flusters him in to making basic mistakes.
