I’ve voted no. I think we will draw.

I think we’ll get more points than Leeds between now and the end of the season and go up though.

I’d love us to win tonight and Leeds slip up against Wednesday giving us the chance to get promoted at our last home game. I’m flying to India for work on the day of the stoke game so I’ll be relying on shite plane WiFi to keep tabs. It would be lovely to see us get promoted and get absolutely hammered round the pubs after and be able to have a stress free flight without worrying about the blades

So will we go back 2nd tonight. My head says a 1-1 draw after going behind. But my heart says we are just going to nip this one in a very tight game. I'm hoping O'Connell is back and we go back to the usual line up with options back on the bench with Madine been back and Hogan. It also gives us the option of Madine coming on and McGoldrick dropping back into the space behind Sharp and Madine. It gives us plenty of options and I am looking forward to this game. With Leeds winning last night I think it means we cant afford to loose but a draw wouldnt be to bad as on paper Saturday looks like we have the easier match. Really can see this going all the way to the last game of the season where who ever gets the result on the last day will go up. Looks like villa and Bristol are in the play offs now really barring a major slip up so cant see villa having much to play for when they play Leeds other than to keep confidence up.
If we score more than them then I think we will win

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to think that we will lose tonight, except that it is a sport played over 90 minutes where both sides have a chance to win. Their form has been dreadful, including dreadful home form. Our form has been great, including great away form. Our position over the season says that we are a better team than them. They beat Leeds, whoopydo, that doesn't mean they are world beaters, in fact it will remind our players not to be complacent.
Of course we could lose, that's sport, but if you can't be confident of an away win now, with all these considerations, then when can you? Why is there an inbuilt victim status in some Blades? Why do you believe in your strange football gods? If you don't believe we can beat a poor Birmingham now, you can't believe we are worthy to go up.

I don't think so. Our away clean sheet luck is way overdue to run out. Hard place to go. 1-1. And that would be just fine.

Do you really believe that our clean sheets have been down to luck? And that luck is a finite quantity that will run out and we will simply let goals in, because there's no more luck?

I didn't say that. But it's played it's part, things have gone our way. They have to to keep 4 away clean sheets in a row in the games we have, when we've far from dominated any of them. Stretching it to 5 would seem unreasonable, but of course it's possible.

Genuinely feel we'll win comfortably tonight. I know i sound like I'm on one of Roy's Views Froms but Brum arent in the greatest league positions and as third place we should be expecting to win these games.

History is just that, so I'll leave it to those who imagine that it follows us wherever we go. If we'd allowed history to repeat itself we'd still be in Division 1, and if history had an sort of mind magic that would influence the present we'd never have thrashed the pigs at their place last season, so on and so on, until it's clear that it's a different team, a far different and better manager, and whatever happens tonight and the next few weeks, whatever happened 10, 20, or 30 years ago, whatever happened then stays there, it's what today's Blades do that matters, not whether someone missed a penalty or failed to convert a sure thing many moons ago.....

As always, Up The Mighty Blades....and bollocks to the cynics and pessimists!

We've defended well and haven't really given up any clear cut chances in any of those away games though. xG would seem to back that up:

Preston 0.90 from 11 shots (average chance = 8%, highest Robinson 23%)
Leeds 1.18 from 17 shots (average chance = 7%, highest Jansson 18%). Worth noting that Henderson didn't make a save.
Them 0.84 from 9 shots (average chance = 9%, highest Hutchinson 53%!)
West Brom 0.82 from 18 shots (average chance 5%, highest Gayle 12%)

We've defended so well that the opposition is basically reduced to taking pot shots. That's not luck. The only proper chance is Hutchinson's and that came as a result of some questionable gamesmanship.

FWIW United's xG in those games
Preston 2.33 from 15 shots (average chance = 15%; highest McGoldrick (scored) 74%)
Leeds 0.98 from 10 shots (average chance = 10%; highest McGoldrick 28%)
Them 0.60 from 7 shots (average chance = 9%, highest Madine 33%)
West Brom 0.44 from 7 shots (average chance = 6%, highest McGoldrick 13%)

100 for each option giving a 50:50 split

It’s like fecking brexit.

After more than 70 years following the Blades, I've never known stress like this. I was going to go to the pub and watch the game on Sky, but now I think I may just listen to the commentary on Radio Sheffield - whilst hiding behind the settee.

Channelling my inner Michael Owen, here are my thoughts -

"When they don’t score, they hardly ever win" a bit like us really

"Do they deserve to win? No, Liverpool do. Which is why a draw is a fair result" what I will be saying if this happens

"To stay in the game, you have to stay in the game" hopefully we will stay in the game

If we score more than them then I think we will win

Luck? Luck? Runs always end...Adams to score a penalty:

The last time we conceded a penalty in the league? Over a year ago. Feb. 27th 2018 away at Reading. We were leading 2-1 when - in the 61st minute - Reading were awarded a penalty and...Bacuna missed! Two minutes later, Billy scored his second of the game and secured our 3-1 win (Duffy got our other).

The last time a team scored a penalty against us in the league? 1st January 2018 when Derby's Vydra equalised Leon's opener in a 1-1 draw at Pride Park.

The last league game where we were winning at half-time and lost the game was on 1st Jan. 2014 v Walsall away (245 league games ago). 1-0 up at HT (Chris Porter, 17), Walsall scored in 52 mins and 62 mins. to win 2-1. :(

Surely not. For stress and tension, the worst I think was sat listening to the radio (that would be a wireless ;)) at the end of the 1983-84 season to hear whether Hull would go up instead of us on goal difference when they were 2 up and only needed to score one more.

I really hope so.

There's a chance to go 4pts ahead of Leeds before their next game (5:30pm on Sat vs Pigs). If we can do that, the pressure is REALLY on Leeds. Fancy Pigs to get a draw Saturday.

yep i remember that night, half the family sat round the wireless

At the end of the day, the table doesn't lie, we are, where we are on merit, and the last five game form guide says (I think) that only Villa have done better than us.

We can beat any team in the league on a given day, it's up to the lads to go out there and do the business.

Swayed the other way now Haha 107 say yes 104 no. Last time I looked it was 104 no to 101 yes so sudden sway to yes. I think it's going to be a very tight game but I'm going to go for a 2-1 win to the mighty blades.
