I tend to look at history of our crowds, the size of the club in comparison to others in the top flight, the likelihood of success, the lack of money in sheffield as a collective (Wendy wouldnt get those crowds either, not sustained for a prolonged period. In fact when they were a good team in the early 90's and football was more affordable, they didnt get crowds like that), what it would take for us to be 'successful' in the top flight (we dont have the Wolves model), how other clubs in other cities have got on with crowds (eg Man City struggle to sell out and theyre an amzing team chasing trophies on all levels coming from a bigger supporter base in a more tourist friendly location), more games on TV and therefore more affordable that way. Like i say, the odd game the demand might be there, but in all probability i dont think it would last at all. Plus people get bored of the same thing, our crowds have dropped this season despite us being a better team than last year.
Just my opinion, but i think the reality would be we'd sell out our current capacity next season if in the Prem, if stayed up and looked half decent maybe the following season, but if not pushing for the top 6 (which surely no one can conceivably think we will be doing in three years, IF, we get promoted), people would soon switch off as we'd become a Southampton / Crystal Palace that play for 40 points each year and collect the TV money

The worse part of the ground is the Kop, these days it’s reasonable to expect an unobstructed view, so it’s about time the posts were taken away. Also it’s reasonable to expect toilet/ bar facilities to be under cover offering protection from the wind and rain.
The current Kop extension would solve most of the current shortcomings and increase capacity to just over 36K.

However I really believe that the Council and the clubs should be trying to put Sheffield on the map.
Our reputation seems to have improved nationally and fans of other clubs usually look forward to a visit to Sheffield.

So ideally I think we should be encouraging as many away fans as possible, as it will build up the economy of Sheffield.
I would love us to put another tier on the South stand which will mean we also double our corporate, excecutive box, banqueting, conferencing facilities. VIP’s, jounalists, media visiting our ground would be impressed visiting our modernised expanded ground.

Also we could give the whole of the away end, 7000 to away fans, which will mean more outsiders visiting Sheffield.
It would be easier to police as Bramall Lane becomes away fans only. Pubs, restaurants, hotels, burger fans will all see a massive boost in income. With a capacity of 42K, it would be 35K seats for home fans and 7K seats for away fans, which future proofs us.

I could be massively mistaken, but doesnt Kevin McCabe (via one of his company's) own the ground /BL land?? Its not the clubs, and hasnt been for some time. If im right the outcome of the Owner's court case will determine if there's likely to be any redevelopment, should the football club go up. The Prince gets the club, i cant see McCabe wanting to invest in the stadium as the landlord, nor see the Prince offer the money to do redevelopments when he doesnt own the ground. If McCabe wins the case, he might be more inclined to redeveloped his own site.

the cynic in me sees the day at some point (if Sheffield ever got its act together) that Mr McCabe (or his family) receive an out of this world offer for the valuable land the site must be worth, and if he doesnt own the football club, them selling up to a property developer. Just my cynical view. I might be in a more optimistic mood tomorrow!
