I believe that when it’s close to a sell out, if you go to the ticket office in person,
they often use their discretion and allow adults without kids in the family stand.

Most people leave it late to buy tickets, so it’s impressive that with over a week to go, that so many tickets have already been sold.
Bristol City have only sold 900 so far and probably won’t break 1000, gate should be over 28,000.

Agree but I think our current home capacity is 28,000 with 2,100 in the away end.
So even if we sell every single available ticket the attendance, with the 900 BC have sold,
The official attendance should be 28,900.

The bottom tier holds 3000 (2,990 in our PL season) so with 1000 Bristol City fans it’s still only a 3rd full.

Current capacity is 32,600, the Kop being done provides about 3,500, the South stand being done provides another 6000 seats.
So overall stadium capacity would increase to around 42,000.

Anybody sensible would think so.

Unfortunately, the reality is that c.300 seats at the front of H-block South Stand seemingly have to be netted off for every single match in order, presumably, to prevent what must be the most dangerous fans in the league from being within 35 yards of the away fans.

Similarly, another c.150 seats at the front of the western end of John Street must always be kept empty, presumably to prevent the kids in the family stand from being too close to the away fans and pulling faces.

And, of course, there will be the 4 empty rows of seats at the front of the BLUT for God knows what reason.

Ridiculous.

Another weird fact regards the safety committee is that last season we gave Wednesday just over 2.200 tickets, this season we give them just over 2,100 tickets.

The away allocation on that bottom tier is truely bizarre and defies all logic.

For example this season we’ll allow Villa to have 2,205 tickets, Reading 2,289, Derby 2,305, Rotherham 2,190 and Wednesday 2,155.

They seem to make it up from one match to the next.

Felt bored so I’ve counted the seats showing as available on the ticketing site.

The 585 tickets left has now reduced to 166, all single seats, none together, which is no use if you want to take a kid.

9 in the Westfield corner
12 in the South stand
97 in the John Street stand and
23 the Pukka Pie corner
Kop also selling well, looks to be about 500 left on there.

Come match day, this is going to be very close to a home sell out and with over 1000 away fans, should be very close to 29K

That’s not my point. Of course I want us to extend. A 5000 extension seems reasonable and modest. But how much will it cost and what affect could it have on a transfer budget? That’s what I’m thinking about.

Depends who's paying, if we go up or if we're still in the Championship next season, I'm pretty sure ground improvements aren't part of the profit and sustainability rules for either league so as long as they're willing to cover both they shouldn't be mutually exclusive.

I think the failed architectural experiment that is the Pukka Pie corner cost a million or more the best part of 20 years ago though (just to make us feel old) so it'd cost a pretty penny no doubt.

Forest are talking about redeveloping (read: rebuilding) the Peter Taylor stand at the City Ground. That will take 18-24 months and is estimated to cost £50m.

The South Stand plans at United aren't a full rebuild but they are significant: I'd imagine we'd be looking at £20m+
