Slightly different tac but I think we need to enjoy watching this team for every second of these last 8 games.

If we end up falling just short then there’s every chance we may have seen the last of John Fleck, Jack O’Connell, Dean Henderson possibly one or 2 others in a blades shirt.

For me they are all fantastic players and the most special team I can’t remember, but i’ll be gutted if the day comes that we lose Flecky, truly believe he has everything when at he’s best and it’s been an absolute joy watching these boys whatever happens!

After a spectacular win on Saturday and you're anticipating the break-up of this team..........as you said, not just different but probably inappropriate given how well we're doing. By all means write whatever you consider relevant, but don't be surprised if you receive a response that suggests you might have an agenda.

I agree with the sentiments wholeheartedly. He’s not saying we’re going to shit but if by a small miracle we do then we all need to appreciate what we’ve witnessed in the last few years and realise that some of our great squad deserve a chance at the top either way, although they have to earn that right by hook or by crook if needs be.

I personally do not see any agenda, more of a nostalgic recognition of the fact that the nerves involved with trying to see us deliver a miracle might mean that such pressures make you get lost in the drama. And that - if the worst happens and we do fall short - you might have to go back on yourself and feel "why did I not enjoy this fantastic chase as much as I should have?" and deliberately live in each moment.

Because let's be honest, come what may, the OP is correct. This is a once in a lifetime selection of players that all chart high also in the non-tangible soft-factors like spirit, commitment, camaraderie, a certain scruffiness and what I would call (for lack of a better term) "old-style Britishness" that is getting rarer in football.

Take Leeds at the end of the match: Luke Ayling was walking off with a certain gutted smile. You could tell he did not appreciate our chants but was clearly making a mental note of trying extra-hard to make us regret our exuberance. Alioski and Hernandez, meanwhile, were fresh from having a go at each other, finger-pointing and all, and their eyes basically just contained snide aggression and anger when they walked by.

We have a squad full of characters that confront adversity with a smile and channel it positively into a response. If things go wrong, we may lose some of these characters next year. Entirely fair to stop for a second and remind ourselves that football in the next two months has to be enjoyed and players appreciated.

I think the question of how we'll sustain ourselves should we cross the line is something I'm sure Wilder and company have given a great deal of thought to. Whatever the figures that are bandied about, I'd imagine that we'd receive our chunk at the end of the season and not the beginning. Which gives rise to the question, how do we pay for the recruits we'd need during the summer? Suddenly we'd change gear and enter an arena where, partly because we'd be a premiership club, we'd find that asking prices would rise considerably. So, should the legal battle have concluded by then, I only hope whoever ends up owning the club appreciates what Wilder will need if, after all his hard work, we're expected to make an effort to compete at this level.

This was precisely the point I was making thankyou! Not sure how itsinyerblood interpreted it so far another way.

But yes I believe we will go up now, but just in case I want to consciously appreciate everything these boys have given us, they’ve been a credit to the club given what we’ve had to endure in some recent seasons!

Aslong as Wilder and Knill stay, then I'm not worried, if players get their heads turned, as Brooks did, then so be it, we all thought that was going to affect us badly, then up popped a certain Ollie Norwood, who is fuckin rate good, and we've been fine.

You’re right of course but it’s inevitable that we’ll lose some and eventually all of them at some point in time. The most important thing is who we replace them with and when?

No one is irreplaceable but if we don’t make it up to the Prem then we stand to lose key players sooner rather than later, as those players capable of performing in the Prem obviously want to play there. And managers capable of managing in the Prem want to manage there as well.

I’m not concerned about that right now. I genuinely think we’ll go up this season. I was far more concerned this time last season and I think Wilder has done really well to strengthen on last season. I didn’t expect that tbh.

8 games to go and in with a strong possibility of finishing Champions. Second place wouldn’t be a disaster either! And whilst none of us fancy the play-offs I’d be confident if it came to that as well.

I always think “enjoy them whilst they’re here” because nothing is forever.

I was trying trying to be helpful as it isn't a word commonly used so wouldn't think most people would know about it.

I think you can see why some teams come close and then do far worse the next season. All of our players have put themselves in the shop window and with the boardroom unrest bubbling behind the scenes, if we don't go up it wouldn't be a surprise to lose three or four key players that we'd really struggle to replace. It'd be tough to find another JOC, Fleck, Stevens and so on.

But I don't care about any of that right now. We're great to watch, we're pulling off results I can hardly believe, and promotion is now an undeniable possibility.

I can't even handle the international break I want the next game that badly.

It's a good job we've got Stearman and Lundstram to fill in next season if we stay down, and we could always get Evans back from Wigan, Leonard back from Millwall and Holmes is going to be back from Gillingham
