Unitedites have always been far better (as has the team historically) when they can see that Utd have their backs against the wall, are struggling but fighting, and need a hand to hold on.

Then United fans really come into their own. Difference in atmosphere generated by the fans between tonight and against Rotherham was like chalk and cheese. Difference was Saturday was like a training exercise and easy, whereas tonight was a backs to the wall display which we gritted out.

No-one better when the chips are down.

Thought our support was almost non-existant in the first half. It sounded very flat. But we rallied in the second half after yet another point-blank save by Hendo, and then it really started rocking when we cut through their defence in front of the kop. When Didsy scored it sounded magnificent, and continued from then on. It takes a lot to wake up the Kop these days.

Normally it takes a few poor referring decisions, tonight it was just an acknowledgement that they players probably needed some encouragement. Good effort all around.

I feel sorry for Wilder. Working absolute miracles on a shoestring budget. A true blade as well. Him and the players have mentioned several times now how much the crowd backing means to them and helps them. Yet still the atmosphere is still pretty flat at times.

Wilder has even acknowledged that we need to put fear of failure behind us as this is a totally different group. He's even acknowledged it takes a bad ref or top save from Deano to get the crowd going. He's one of us and he knows the score.

I don't know what the answer is. I wish we would give unreserved top backing every game now. This team and manager sure deserve it.

It really isn't, for a team challenging for the top two all season our support has been absolutely awful. Lets not sugar coat it.

24k att was rubbish too , unless you've got a very good excuse you really should be coming to the lane , I hate to say it but if the pigs where up there they would be getting up towards 28/30k , poor effort by some blades

I agree. I reckon red button and iFollow knock at least 1500-2000 off the attendance for games like this.

The club can also do more if they want to get more fans in. Tickets aren't cheap.

and if they were in the Prem they'd be averaging 45k eh?

One of the great myths. They would be getting similar crowds to us at best.

It is a struggle financially for some , let alone with other commitments -work /family etc
personally i am a season ticket holder so can 'forget' about the cost until renew time , not the same having to work out week by week/game by game esp when you can watch for a £10 or part of your sky package already,

personally think the filth wouldn't be getting £28k at all, prob similar to us yet they have a shit stadium and a f##king awful band shit to try and create an atmosphere

I agree we need to have BDTBL to be rocking for all 4 games now and think it will be ,
if everyone that wines about the support joins in we will be fine !

Little bit of rose tinted glasses here, I remember under Bassett the crowds were 'officially' lower than they should have been for a promotion push and the atmosphere often flat, even on the run in (Oxford, Watford, Wolves, spring to mind) but in the crunch moments (Newcastle, Port Vale, Bournemouth) it was a different story. Very similar to this season when the match ignites (Derby, Blackburn, Brentford) so will the crowd. I'm sure Wilder gets that but has every right to make the demands on us.

Last 3 home matches £10 for up to 2 adults accompanied by a child in the family stand.Child is only £5.
Bristol city game is the same but you need to fill in a promotional leaflet that has been circulated around schools.

its wide known, when they team needs us we are there just like last night just like derby. just Brentford opening game of the season when we got promotion , maybe recently we have been a bit relaxed but as I said before i think its a social media misconception that the atmosphere is worse as people only remember the great games

Not that I disagree with those comments, but Chris played in a team that got promoted from this league and got about 20,000 in their last home game that season.
