Yes, we really were.

Some of their shooting was poor, but most of their shots and crosses in the second half had a giant Jack O’Connell in the way. We had a very difficult hour to get through with ten men and we shut them out. Our defending since the last ten minutes at Villa has been superb and credit is very much due tonight.

So fuckin proud of those players tonight. Throwing their bodies in front of shots, blocks, diving headers, Deano in goal, Basham looking like he was going to throw up he was running that much. Egan, O'Connell playing like men possessed. Whatever happens this season, you cannot ask for anymore. Win, lose or draw you know they’ve given their all, that’s all I can ask of them. I know Madine’s dropped a huge bollock tonight but I have been impressed with him when he has played. Hopefully he might realise this is his last chance at a decent club.

I was a long way away on the kop but my initial view was a foul, possible a booking.

Regardless our 1st choice 2 is now Goldie and sharp, with Madine an option when back for the last 6 and Hogan behind them all including Dowell IMO

Just to add a bit more on this having listened to Wilders post match.

The choice of adjectives used to describe Madines performance (up to the red) is “outstanding”.

No other players awarded this accolade.

Now.

If this was said with the intention of bring “supportive” of a player that has made a mistake and is genuinely gutted about his actions, then that’s good man management.

If it was said to accurately describe the gaffers view of the individuals level of performance and contribution, then I am genuinely even more concerned than ever about what the gaffer feels good looks like !
