Most grounds are quiet at most games except for the big local derbies or big cup games
That’s what all seater stadium have done
From what I have seen we on the whole are quieter than most
The Kop very rarely gets going like it did years ago and the main part of the South Stand is very quiet
That’s why teams have drums and clappers , any thing to improve the noise levels and participation
Out fans only really get going if something happens on the pitch when the ref makes a bad decision
Leeds is one of the best atmospheres where they all stand behind the goal to a man and make it intimidating

As soon as I saw the headline I could have put money on at least 2 putting their jaundiced views forward. The atmosphere is better than 90% of clubs in full voice ( better than some Pigs on here's favourite team by far ). The only drawback is the Blades perpetual pessimism that things will go wrong which it normally does. As for Leeds, they have been for years noted for their shit support at home, so I can't understand why they're given so many plaudit on here.

yes, there were some good atmospheres, amazing in fact, in exciting matches. there were however plenty of absolute morgue like atmospheres - unsurprisingly in shit games. Loads of away fans from both eras that thought the Lane was a shit atmosphere following their experience. Conversely, under Clough we generated some of the best one off atmospheres in years.

The lane, like most places is a reactionary place full of reactionary people reacting to what's in front of them. It's not a place where thousands of choir enthusiasts gather round to belt out quirky renditions of hymns or bad imitations of continental sporting anthems regardless of what is being played out and hi 5 each other whilst giggling to the odd sweary word. Palace try this, but it does sound pretty fcking wank to a lot of folk. The Lane is also not a place where folk travel from miles, attracted by the idea of being part of some historically partisan aggressive mob and wanting to prove themselves. ER embraces a bit of that and fair play, it's currently quite consistently loud. I did, however, for some fckin reason visit the shit tip a lot when i studied there and got free tickets and i remember it as quiet as the lane during shit games.

All my opinion, but the Rotherham atmosphere was none other than a typical reaction to typically uneventful wank game against a complete shit shower of boring as fck carthorses.

I don't like admitting anything that is a negative regarding United, probably ignore it and hope it goes away ,however the atmosphere isn't the same wether we like it or not, it's obviously not the most important item on the agenda but there is nothing wrong, in my opinion in barney raising the point, it has, sometimes taken a poor refereeing decision to "get us going" and boy does it work, we used to be famous for our bear pit atmosphere but not at the moment, we have probably got accustomed to being the better team at home,one thing is nailed on though ,win promotion and the underdog feeling will be back in spades and the bear pit atmosphere will be back to it's best, well at least for a season.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, and praised your work re the BLUT, there seems some major exaggerations about the issues. People tend to become passionate as events occur on the pitch. Not because of forum rallying cries.

'Siddarn' nips any possibility of singing in the bud. And that's everywhere in the ground apart from the back few rows of the Kop! Some of them don't even stand up for a penalty or a goal do they? Kids being brought up in this sterile environment are less likely to be singy chanty pashun types in the future whether they move away from John Street or not.

I don't think I'm exaggerating, although you're better placed to comment on the South Stand. But whenever I've been there it feels very reserved and inhibited. Go to a few different areas there tonight, try to start a chant then have a look around. I'm sure you'll catch your gawper.

The loudest I ever heard the kop was thank-givens day when were up against it with catastrophe looming.
I’m not suggesting we need a relegation.
If we are promoted I’m pretty sure we’ll be up against it for most of the season and the atmosphere will improve.
Watchin the Blades stroll around in a training exercise easily beating teams like last week hardly gets the crowd going.
Blades 4-0 against reading was almost boring to watch.
