Shit ,thought Bruce might get for turning wednesdays into galaticos .
No that will be at the end of the season at the anual league award dinners where he will get the ultimate award (The Pig Bouncing deludomol award (PBDA)) for winning the league with all those 0-0 wins.
Hope that clarifies things.
:)
Any furthur queries please send to Crab AwardsTechnical Section (CRATS)

I think the only time he’s won it with us before was for the month of April the year we went up. As it was awarded after the Chesterfield game, Wilder won his next league game (the season opener against Brentford).

Someone get on Amazon and order a bottle of this stuff for Wilder and his staff.

Given Wilders brilliant achievements with us and that there is only a pool of 20ish managers that can win it and about 9 months it can be won in, its amazing that this is his only championship award and that he only won it once in the first division

It certainly has been the "kiss of death" for some of the managers who have won the award this season.........without exception the results for the 5 games following the award have been mixed at best......;

August - Bielsa (Leeds) - Next 5 were DWLDW 8 points from 15
Sept - Moore (West Brom) - WLLDL 4 points from 15
Oct - McClaren (QPR) - WDDLL 5 from 15
November - Farke (Norwich) - WDWDL 8 from 15
December - Adkins (Hull) - WDLWL 7 from 15

From the 25 games above there have been just 8 wins with 8 draws and 9 defeats.....therefore the Manager of The Month gets on average just 6.4 points from a possible 15 over the next 5 games....bearing in mind we are coming into the "Vinegar Stroke" stage of the season CW has to buck the trend or we will end up with about 14 points from the last 33 available should that trend continue......79 in total.....which will comfortably see us in the play-offs but in a very poor run of form...

Yes........I should be working!

Oops, I left Januarys winner, Tony Mowbray off...

His record for the following 4, (has only played 4 since winning the award) was....LLLD

Good job I left him off, would have brought the average down even more.......WE'RE DOOMED!!

Interestingly though, with the exception of Mowbray 4 of the 5 winners all won the next game so hopefully we are OK for tomorrow!

Interesting! I was thinking that what usually happens is an average team goes on a brilliant run, the manager gets the award and then they run into harder fixtures / their luck dries up / regress to mean in other ways - so their results drop off. That would certainly be the case with QPR, Blackburn and Hull. However, you've got 3 of the top 4 teams in there too.

I suppose 8 points from 15 for both Leeds and Norwich isn't bad, really, just not as good as it was beforehand (presumably for the reasons above). That would still be 1.6 points per game which averages out to 73.6 points over a full season, which is still playoff pace.

villa and Boro spent the same .
Warnock won manager of the month .too
They got auto on a lot less

Villa spent hardly anything in the 2017-18 season, in fact they made +£11.7m on transfers, Boro's net spend was about £2m....

Wolves committed at total of £67m on players in terms of up-front fees and "loans to permanents"....so yes, they bought the title and if NES had won the Manager of the Month award every month it would have made no difference at all...

Wilder wins February award. We lose first match in March 0-0 in S6. Footballing gods already appeased. Move on...

It’s another one of them football urban myths. Occasionally a manager will lose his next game after receiving such an award, but not in all, or even the majority of cases, does this happen.
And it won’t happen tomorrow.

My confirmation bias seems to be right a lot of the time though.

Why does it look like they have photoshopped his head on?

Chris was unavailable (he already had tickets to see an early screening of Captain Marvel this morning) but luckily Derek Geary was on hand at short notice to accept the award while wearing a slightly oversized Wilder face mask.

Part of me thought it was a photo taken by the ST*R of Bruce in advance, but they had to photoshop our Chris on because in the real world he won it.

It's not a kiss of death, it's just that excellent form is unsustainable.

No team that has won four or five in a row are ever going to keep it going and win nine or ten in a row. It just doesn't happen.

So the manager who wins it is always on a hiding to nothing.
