I can give you 2. QPR & Blackburn.
Did I complain? When I noticed him trotting into midfield, I may have sighed yes.

He's simply not up to the job in midfield at this level (top end championship). He's a centre half now and it shows.
He was playing just behind the striker Monday, it was ridiculous when we had Duffy sat on the bench.

If Akinbiyi is talking about that one match, I totally agree. We played long ball because they flooded the midfield. Instead of trying to play our normal game we used plan b from kick off. We are not long ball exponents and, as yet, we don’t play it that well because we are slow to the knock down imo.

We looked a miles better team when McGoldrick was on because we started playing more football.

But by the same token I don't blame Madine for it being lumped up to him, he's a perfectly fine footballer on the floor there is no need to keep hitting it long but with McGoldrick we make that choice much less as the defenders know it's more likely to come straight back.

The defenders and midfielders need to have some accountability for the other day for me when it comes to the long ball - unless it was a tactic.

One of my favourite results/performances Was Villa at home, I also enjoyed the win at Brentford too. Both games Basham spent a large chunk of the game in midfield.

I agree that he's a better centre half than mifielder, I agree that the tactics didn't work against Wednesday and I agree that he has no place behind the striker. I still think there's a place for him in midfield when on rare occasions - It's extremely useful to have option to alter the system/formation without making a substitution.

Dont understand the comment about sinking to their level though. I'd agree that we didn't play well Monday, and that it was an even match, but that's just one game in isolation. Are you implying that us and Wednesday are now on the same level? (As both our form and the league table would say different.)

I was meaning when we play them. We've sunk to their level each time rather than playing our game. Of course we're far better than them but taking their games into isolation was my point.

Thanks for clarifying; in that case I agree. Both times this season it seems we altered our game to face them, rather than letting them worry about us.

I was shocked when the change was made, couldn’t work out why he’d done that, tactically.

Then, on reflection, I realised that our overlapping centre halves had been anonymous all game and that’s probably our plan A, our most effective form of attack. By pushing Basham into midfield we created a little more space for those players to push on and overload, putting the pigs on the back foot.

If we’d have nicked it in the last ten because of this change, Wilder would be rightly lauded as a genius. Because it didn’t, a lot on here are saying he’s tactically inept.

For what it’s worth, I wanted Duffy to start because I love him and he dictates our play. We do need to look beyond him in the future because he can’t go on forever but i just don’t think this side is quite good enough to not play him yet. We seem to take him for granted and really miss him when he isn’t playing.

It’s interesting that in Wilder’s reign I can count on one hand the amount of things I would consider a ‘mistake’ on his part, and about 3 or 4 of them have been against Wednesday.

Agree 100% on that. If Bash by some miracle hit a 25 yard screamer we'd have attributed it to him being in a more advanced position and me or Akinbiyi wouldn't be posting.

But we cannot analyse the might have beens. We analyse what happened and based on the Villa and Wednesday performances, I am of the opinion that Bash into the middle to finish a game that we look comfortable in appears to be counter-productive.

Ffs inviting the pressure from the start, not playing our own game, on the other side I can see that he’s going to keep it tight then hopefully hit them with the subs.

Not confident, looks like sharp will be up front on his own with didsy playing deeper.

To summarise we’re looking for a point and keeping it tight, it could massively backfire and invite the pressure..... come on blades let’s do this, win one of the biggest games for years for once!

Duffy would have rounded the keeper and scored that chance that Basham had at the end of the 1st half.
Agree it’s tricky tho because altho Duffy is class, he’s often light weight and poor at defending.
