But why now? If they are allowed to sell around 3,000 today why not at the start, same area, doesn't make sense as to why they didn't from the start

My guessing is that they’re not going to sell a single seat in the lower tier. This eradicates the need for netting thus freeing up the front 6 rows.

If they are not using the lower tier, why not just give it us? Must be desperate for the cash surely....

At this stage they may as well give us the whole Leppings Lane end, surely? The only justification they now have for not selling the lower tier is that they don't want too many United fans in the ground.

SYP won't want 4,600 Blades to deal with, too much trouble to change their arrangements, but in fact giving us that number would make the Leppings Lane end better to police. Last time Pigs were allowed down LL to gain access to their North Stand. Remember the state of the art wheelie bins that separated the fans :D.

Pissed up Pigs were falling down LL causing problems before the game. Giving us the whole of that end would make the area no go for Pig fans and allow a smooth transition of Blades entering the stadium. The Pigs with the additional revenue from another 1600 tickets could improve the atmosphere by employing better trained stewards instead of the obnoxious twats from last time who allowed serious crowd congestion to occur as they were unhappy they had to stay on another 30 minutes to let fans in the ground.

SYP could avoid the need for 10,000 ticketless Pigs on Swillsboro corner who want to watch the game in the pub by shutting the boozers in that area. If they can shut the Lord Nelson at the Lane then the same rules should apply. Even the trams could get through on time and with plenty of room if they had more than 3 specials.

Of course these are all far too sensible suggestions and the usual unorganised clusterfck will happen. Book your taxi now if you travelling from the city centre:).

Just rang the ticket office and you need 42500 points as from tomorrow to be able to get one. Rules me out.

Possibly. Tickets for tonight's game v Brentford are £20. (But don't forget, it's us who sell cheap tickets and include kids, cats and dogs in the attendance figures).

It is a heck of a lot of money to miss out on. But the site of 5000-ish Blades in their away end must be a bit worrying for them. I wouldn’t like it at our place
Wasn't that long ago they did this though. Was in LL lower tier in 2010, when we drew 1-1. And plenty of times before that too. The difference is that we can sell the blut, but they are struggling to sell out, so they won't be in LL at all this time.

If it’s about price rather than fear, no doubt with all those fans they’ve got and their recent resurgence there will be 30k in attendance tonight.

I honest don’t see why they can’t give us both tiers, it has happened plenty of time in the past without major incidents, efficiently separate both sets of fans, keep us in for 20 minute after the match whilst the majority disperse. Chansiri will benefit with getting the equivalent amount of cash as he would have done with the take up on an extra 50 club 1867 subscriptions and a couple of thousand more supporters get to see the game, as well as the empty bottom tier won’t show up on the television.

The problem here is SYP, I experienced first hand how West Midlands Police manage their games on Saturday, no coppers on every corner looking like they dressed up to go in to a riot. Coppers engaging the fans, being friendly and treating everyone as decent human beings instead of potential criminals and it made a huge difference. The people who are in charge of safety and policing matches in this neck of the woods have got a hell of a lot to learn

This - they’ve realised they don’t need to open the lower tier.

Presumably 380,000 of their fans can’t make this one.

I’ve already said, within days the story will be WE couldn’t sell our tickets, not the massive. They’ll be on every forum in the land bullshitting again.

They’ll look tinpot on TV though.
