On that wonderful day at Leicester,May 5th 1990,we probably witnessed the greatest blades celebrations that i can remember in my 60 years of supporting our great club,although Darlington was very close,the prize was not as significant.We had risen from the depths of division 3 and fought tooth and nail with Leeds Utd right to the last game.We were both promoted,ultimately we were runners up on goal difference,but the achievement of Dave Bassetts team against all the odds was nothing short of remarkable.By coincidence,this season also concludes on May 5th,again Leeds Utd are one of our closest rivals and we have also just shaken off several years in division 3,however,i think that promotion this season would be equally,if not more unbelievable than it was in 1990.It is strange how football often throws up these coincidences,if promotion does happen again this year,expect the scenes at Stoke to eclipse anything we have ever seen before...........what a day that will be !!

That's the optimistic scenario. Given the 13-year curse kicks in again in 2020, if we don't go up this season, next year's relegation takes us back to Division 3.

No reason why we can't, after the baggies game we should fear no one when I saw their attacking 3 i thought shit ,but it was quite comfortable in the end..
Just a shame I will be watching beam back at the lane for the stoke game.

I've posted the coinsedences before but england got to a semi-final (already in one)Liverpool win lthe league ,only thing I can't replicate is i went to gran canaria on 18-30's holiday aged 20 I'm now 49 .

That day will never be surpassed as far as I am concerned , before mobile phones , drank meself dizzy before hand , lovely sunny day , won float on coach for 1st scorer about £40 , free day out in them days , coming out of the ground after 1 hour of celebrations and some copper told us wendy had been relegated, and off celebrating we went again !!
Got home knackered but so happy off out for a sat night piss up HAPPY DAYS !!

my main memory of our CW that day in 1990 is back at the Lane , as they arrived back, on the coach and one of the first players we saw was our Chris with a pint and beaming a huge smile !

I can't see Stoke giving us 9,000 like we took that day to Leicester but they'll have nothing to play for like Leicester did too. I can see us getting 6,000 like what MK gave us. 6,000 Blades would be amazing though still. I think we'll have done it by then but maybe need to beat Stoke for the title! We could have won it in 1990, but we dropped silly points such as Barnsley at home and Portsmouth away. One more point would have done it!
