More ambitious board than Newcastle perhaps? Newcastle might be a big club, but what have they achieved in recent (or any) history? And they won't achieve anything else whilever Ashley is there. So that for me, makes Leicester the bigger draw for a manager IMHO

You're right about the potential up there. Personally I can't believe the amount they have underachieved given the fanbase and stadium. You look in from the outside and are genuinely puzzled.

A properly funded Newcastle, I feel WOULD be a bigger draw. I just feel at this stage, the Leicester job is better in terms of being given the funds to do the job properly.

Gate receipts are only a small proportion of PL income. Having big crowds doesn’t really equal potential these days. Leicester have won the PL in front of a global audience. They’ve probably got bigger global potential than Newcastle, perennial trophy dodgers.

Well I honestly can't recall any bid for McCarthy - he was linked with Chelsea - and it appears he was one of the top PL scorers that season. An unlikely signing for us. Is this from Warnocks book?

this is the only quote I could find but I remember hearing or reading a bit more than this perhaps on the radio it stuck in my mind as I'd no idea the kind of wages we could afford or that prem players were on at the time

He lets his heart rule his head, and it's only because a trained monkey (Carlos Carvahal etc.) could win a title with Celtic that he did well for them. But I think this will give Rangers an opportunity to be nearer, not that I rate Gerrard either! Claude Puel would be a better choice for Celtic, he just needs a personality bypass first! His record is decent though.

Steve Clarke at Kilmarnock would have been a decent shout to for Rangers. As long as its not Wilder for any of them, it dunt matter really though does it!

I only worry about Wilder leaving when Burnley inevitably lose Dyche; if we don't go up this summer and if the board wrangle ends badly then I could see Wilder fancying Burnley - if they stay up of course. But this is academic right now: I believe we will go up and I'm optimistic that McCabe will win through with the boardroom court case.
