He’s contributed more than enough to ask people if they over reacted when they literally hoping he failed.

The people you say 'over reacted' were doing so because of Madine's history of violence not his ability or lack of match fitness. Anybody with an ounce of integrity have stuck to their principles that they do not want such a person representing Sheffield United; that it may appear to have gone quiet is that irrespective of what we want he is now representing our club so the mature position is to just accept it and not stir the pot, I'm sorry you aren't able to do this.

When we were about to sign him he said about Madine.

‘He should be a good fit for your teem because he’s like McGoldrick, very good at holding the ball and laying it off”
Said ‘like McGoldrick he’s not generally a goal scorer but he’s a decent passer and will set up chances for Sharp”.

When he said Madine played in a similiar fashion to McGoldrick I almost burst out laughing assuming he can’t have ever seen McG play.
I suppose it was his way of saying Madine isn’t just “a big lump who can head a ball”, he actually has decent ability to play in a passing team. To be fair he is better on the ball than I expected, just shows how playing for Bolton and Cardiff made him play like a big lump,

He's proved to be a reasonable signing on his limited showings so far; although I am still worried that we are going to change our style of play too much to suit him, it doesn't seem to have happened that much so far. People wanting a "plan B" style of play seem to have been satisfied, nonetheless.
None of that alters the unhappiness a lot of people have at him representing the club. He needs to be whiter than white off field whilst he's with us (though to be fair, I would hope all players behave decently whilst at the club).

Personally I class what John Terry did as morally worse, sleeping with your colleagues/ friends wife, premeditated and continuous destroying life’s at home and in the workplace. John Terry sounds a deceitful nasty piece of work, but the reports may be misleading and he may be a nice guy in real life.

Also believe the club hero TC was in court for domestic violence against his ex wife many decades ago.

It isn't about trusting the media or listening to rumours though. There are criminal convictions.

I wouldn't have signed him, but now he's here, I'm prepared to sit back and let him get on with it. He'll get applause from me for anything he achieves for us, but it'll take a while and a fair bit on his behalf for me to be happy about his presence. The whole "he's served his time" argument has validity, but is also a grey area. It's not as if it's a one-off mistake from him - and I'm sure there are plenty of situations where people wouldn't apply such a forgiving attitude in their own lives/situations. On top of that, football is different to, say, working as a joiner at a building firm. You take the big bucks, you should have to take on the responsibilites.
I hope he continues to show his worth, because if he doesn't it will cost us points.

One of these assists is him missing the goal. I don't like this "assist" thing, which seems to have been nicked from ice hockey, because it's another misleading statistic. An incisive through ball or cross is what I would term an "assist". Missing the goal but having another team mate pounce on the rebound is great in the grand scheme of things, but attributing an "assist" to someone in those circumstances is, as I say, misleading.
That's not a criticism of Madine, who went for goal, which I would expect from a striker, but it's nonsense to attribute it to Madine as some sort of award.

Madine takes the pressure off the other strikers and this will help the team to score more goals.

That's right. He did that with 2 other forwards scoring 9 goals or more and Jags and Ifill scoring 17 between them. The striker goals are there this year but the midfield goals are not. If Madine is to play instead of McGoldrick, he needs to score like him.

Wilder understands this. 2 years ago Wilder had Hanson in the side but then dropped him for Clarke. One of the reasons for this was Hansons lack of goals. So it will go with Madine. He's come in at a tough time and done well, but if he doesn't score he'll be in the bench more often than not.

Are we ignoring the games when he didn't do anything then? That's cherry picking to suit your argument.

2 assists in 200 mins. Pretty good. He looks good. But early days. Conor Sammon scored twice in his first 5 games.

As I said in response to Silent, management will not use him long term if he doesn't score. They dropped Hanson and Done for that and they dropped Clarke for that.

I can’t disagree with anything there really and as I say we’ll wait and see what he produces in more than a handful of minutes.

It doesn’t matter who scores in the grand scheme of things aslong as we win games but as Rev quite rightly points out, as a striker he could do with scoring as Wilder drops players a lot of the time for not scoring goals.

As I said earlier on though, a decent start but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. You’ll hear more from me on this subject if he proves to be a good addition in a month or so’s time, that you have my word LSF.
